2026 RHP/OF Madelyn “Madi” Doty, who is expected to be named to the top 5 of the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100 next Friday, chose to commit to Texas, Doty announced on Twitter on Sunday.
“The reason I chose Texas is when I got there, it felt like home,” Doty said, “and to have the opportunity to work with the coaching that has had some great success the last few years.”
Doty, of Grandview, TX, went 37-0 with a .0.57 ERA and 280 strikeouts in 171.2 innings this past summer, leading Texas Glory – Shelton to the 16U Alliance co-national championship. She was named the Pitcher MVP of the 16U Line Drive All-Summer Team. She will play for Texas Glory-Shelton 18U in the fall.
Texas won the Big-12 title and lost to Oklahoma in the finals of the WCWS last season. UT moves to the SEC this year.
“Texas was always her No. 1 option,” Texas Glory coach Kevin Shelton said. “If Texas came through with the right package, we thought she would likely go there and she is now. After (her) visit this weekend, (she) committed yesterday (Saturday).
Coach Shelton adds that Doty is a team-first type of player any coach would love to have on the team.
“Madi wants to win,” he told Line Drive earlier today. “She’s a gamer who will do anything to help (her) team.Madi is a aery good athlete – she really swings the bat well – and wants the opportunity to hit.”
