Club News: Americans and Nationals End in Tie at 4th Alliance All-Star Game (July 21, 2024)

The Americans and the Nationals ended in a 4-4 tie after seven innings in the fourth Alliance All-Star Game on Sunday in Kokomo, IN, on CBS Sports Network.

The Nationals, who beat the Americans, 3-1, last year, have a 2-1-1 edge in the all-time series.

The Americans struck first with three runs, including two unearned, in the bottom of the 1st inning. Arkansas-bound IF Ella McDowell (Impact Gold-Jackson) had an RBI single to highlight the inning.

Clemson-bound OF Ava Wilson (Fury Platinum X-Higdon) walked to lead off the top of the 3rd inning, stole second and eventually scored from third on a passed ball as the Nationals cut the lead to 3-1.

The Nationals tied it up in the top of the 4th inning as Florida Atlantic-bound SS Destiny Johns (Tampa Mustangs-Rene) walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Mississippi State-bound Paige Ernstes (Indiana Magic Gold-Green) to make it 3-2. Georgia-bound SS Paislee Allen (Texas Glory) hit a grounder to third that ended in an E-5, allowing the tying run to score.

UCLA-bound MIF Aleena Garcia (Corona Angels-Tyson) came through with a two-out triple and scored on an error to give the Americans a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Florida-bound OF Townsen Thomas (Texas Bombers Gold) drove a double to left-center field to score Florida-bound OF Taylor Shumaker (OC Batbusters-Stith) with the tying run for the Nationals in the top of the 7th inning. The Nationals had another runner thrown out at the plate on the same play.
