You know you’re good when have not one but TWO videos made to celebrate your verbal commit.
That was the case for Janie Goldin, the outstanding speedster from Georgia who plays for Kip Taylor’s Georgia Impact team and is currently helping her juggernaut of a high school team, Buford (Ga.) High, to an undefeated season so far.
Off the field, there’s also big news for the standout junior who on Friday finalized her college decision: she’ll be playing for Head Coach Kenny Gajewski at Oklahoma State.
The way it went public, however, was a marketer’s dream.
In the first video, a sole figure is listening to a radio broadcast of one of Janie’s game…well, just watch the clip:
If you didn’t catch just who is listening to the radio broadcast of the athlete stroking a triple, it’s her future Cowgirls coach, Kenny Gajewski himself, who simply and poignantly says at the end:
“We got a good one.”
That he and the OSU staff certainly did.
In another commitment-focused video–this one produced by a friend at her father’s work–Janie’s softball journey is chronicled in a series of images from her youth up ‘til now and ends with photo shots of the athlete in her future Cowgirl colors:
So how big of a pickup is this for Oklahoma State?
Line Drive ranked Janie No. 3 in the Top 10 of the 2027 Hot 100 which was released five weeks ago, on Sept. 5, 2025.
Here’s how her bio read:
T-3—Janie Goldin, C/OF, Georgia Impact 08 – Taylor
One opposing high school coach nailed it when describing Janie’s game: “’J’ is a game,” he began. “And you can’t defend it.” Head Coach Kip Taylor adds: ““Janie has been a huge addition to our catching rotation and has a cannon for an arm behind the plate. We’re just as excited with her potential as an outfielder due to her speed in covering ground and her arm to throw out base runners.” Playing for Buford (Ga.) High, one of the top prep programs in the country, Janie batted .565 and, very unlike most catchers, went 26-for-26 in steal attempts to earn All-State honors as a sophomore. Amazingly, she batted over .500 at top events including Show Me The Money (.588) and Colorado Sparkler (.500) and in the PGF Futures All-American Game went 1-for-2 as the starting catcher and played an inning in centerfield. Impressively, Janie had a .995 fielding percentage over the summer and only had one passed ball in 142.1 innings catching. She has narrowed down her Top 5 to UCLA, Oklahoma State, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Arizona State and those are schools she plans on visiting on official trips.
Currently, Janie is a key reason that her Buford High Wolves are undefeated at 28-0 and ranked No. 1 nationally this fall after a big win 5-0 win Thursday over the previously undefeated Eastside Eagles.
The 2027 grad is hitting .534 on the season through 28 games from the leadoff spot and currently has 36 stolen bases.
Next week, the Georgia high school playoffs begin, allowing Janie to focus solely on winning another state title and not having to worry about the recruiting process anymore.
She took three official visits: to Oklahoma State, UCLA and North Carolina.
So why the Cowgirls?
“My biggest reason for picking OSU was I get to play at the highest level in a family-like environment,” she told Line Drive Softball Friday evening.
“They will make me better on and off the field.
Go Pokes! 🧡🖤 Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and most importantly the Lord, for helping me make this dream a reality! Can’t wait to be a cowgirl! 🤠 @cowgirlsb @OSUcoachG @Coach_Shippy @bergy_9 @carrieeberle @Impact_Taylor08 @SoftbalAmerica @LineDsoftball… pic.twitter.com/nIaw4hHhlY
And what attracted the Oklahoma State coaches to her? we asked Janie.
“The OSU coaches said that I am a difference maker and fit their program perfectly,” she responded.
It’s been quite the accomplished career for the high schooler who has had personal success—she has been tabbed as a PGF All-American—and team success—she’s previously won a state title with Buford High.
After having several zoom calls and phone calls along the way, the choice became clear for Janie this week and, on Friday morning, she called the Oklahoma State coaching staff to give them the news they were hoping to hear.
Her father Ryan Goldin is as proud of how she handled being courted by top P4 programs as he is of her successes on the field.
“Janie did a great job going through the recruiting process at her pace,” he says. “She had several visits, several zoom calls, etc. with top programs. In the end, she did not allow herself to get rushed. She made her own decision and this morning (Friday) she woke up an Oklahoma State Cowgirl!”
And how far of a drive is it to Stillwater from the Goldin’s home in Georgia?
“It’s 12 hours and 38 minutes,” according to Ryan Goldin who evidently has the drive time calculated down to the minute, but don’t expect him and his wife, Aubrey, to be driving too often to Stillwater.
“Janie’s official visit was the weekend of September 19,” he explains, “and we flew. The only time I’ll likely drive out is to help her move in and move back.”
“Other than that, I am sure we will fly.”
