Keilani Ricketts is one of three Team Captains in Week 1.

The Athletes Unlimited Softball League announced on July 29 that Kayla Kowalik, Rachel Garcia and Keilani Ricketts as the opening team captains for the 2026 AUSL All-Star Cup, which began Saturday night at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois.

Kowalik will lead Team 1, Garcia will captain Team 2, and Ricketts will head Team 3 as the league’s top 45 players open the four-week competition.

The captains will draft their teams before the opening series and work alongside team facilitators to make lineup decisions, guide practices, and manage in-game strategy.

OPENING NIGHT RESULTS… WEEK 1, GAME 1 RECAP

Sami Williams’ Double Lifts Team Garcia to First All-Star Cup Win of 2026

Team Corrick may have been first on the board in Saturday’s 2026 Athletes Unlimited Softball League All-Star Cup opener, but it was a third inning double off the bat of Sami Williams that sealed the deal for Team Garcia in Rosemont, Illinois.

Rachel Garcia’s team won 3-1 in Game 1 of Week 1.

After one and a half scoreless innings recorded by Team Garcia captain Rachel Garcia and Team Corrick’s Lexi Kilfoyl, Sharlize Palacios launched the first home run of the 2026 All-Star Cup season, taking Garcia deep over the left-center field wall to give Team Corrick a 1-0 advantage.

Team Garcia responded the very next frame. After Sydney Stewart reached on an error, Aubrey Leach and Skylar Wallace followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Stewart scored on a wild pitch before Williams cleared the bases with a double to left field, breaking the tie and giving Team Garcia a 3-1 lead.

The two-run double proved to be the difference as Team Garcia held Team Corrick scoreless the rest of the way to secure a 3-1 victory and open the All-Star Cup with a win.

Williams finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and earned MVP 1 honors for the first Game MVP award of her All-Star Cup career. She also finished the night with a career-high 190 leaderboard points.

Garcia’s Bullpen Keeps Team Corrick Off the Board

Garcia gave Team Corrick several different looks in the circle, allowing just one hit across 2.1 innings. Garcia struck out two without issuing a walk over the first 2.1 innings, and the lone hit that she allowed was Palacios’ second-inning home run.

Karlyn Pickens earned the save.

Sam Landry took over in the third and kept Team Corrick hitless over 1.1 innings, striking out three of the four batters she faced to earn the win. Rookie Karlyn Pickens handled the final 3.1 innings and allowed four hits while keeping Team Corrick off the scoreboard to earn the save.

Team Corrick threatened in the seventh inning when Sydney Sherrill led off with a single down the left-field line, but Pickens retired the next three batters, including a strikeout of Palacios, to close out Team Garcia’s first victory of the 2026 All-Star Cup.

Garcia, Landry and Pickens combined for seven strikeouts. Team Corrick finished with five hits but was 0-for-7 with runners on base.

Pickens joined Williams among the game’s top performers, earning MVP 2 honors and 40 additional leaderboard points. Palacios earned MVP 3 honors for Team Corrick, while Sydney Sherrill received Defensive MVP honors.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

The All-Star Cup Title

Unlike the AUSL Championship, which crowns the league’s best team, the All-Star Cup crowns one individual champion.

Over four weeks, 45 of the league’s top players will compete for points, with every at-bat, inning and game influencing the individual standings.

The Race to Become a Team Captain

Leadership is earned, not assigned.

After each series, the top players in the individual standings become captains and draft new teams, meaning strong performances can completely reshape the competition from week to week.

Momentum Heading into the International Calendar and 2027

The All-Star Cup is the final showcase before many players head to national team competition and the offseason.

A strong performance can build confidence, enhance a player’s profile and create momentum heading into next year’s AUSL season.

The League’s Continued Growth

The All-Star Cup is the AUSL’s first major event following a breakthrough Championship Series and serves as another opportunity to showcase the league’s stars, innovative format and growing national audience.

Sustaining that momentum is a key objective for the league as it builds toward its third season.

The Next Faces of Professional Softball

With veterans, Olympians, college legends and standout rookies competing together, the All-Star Cup offers players another opportunity to establish themselves as the league’s next marquee stars.

Every highlight, clutch performance and leadership moment can elevate a player’s national profile.

The Game’s Brightest Stars Become Teammates

Matchups that defined the regular season will give way to new partnerships, creating unique moments fans can only see during All-Star Cup.

The Next Generation Continues to Shine

The 2026 season featured one of the strongest rookie classes in professional softball, and the All-Star Cup gives those young stars another opportunity to perform alongside established veterans while introducing themselves to an even broader audience.

OFF THE FIELD

Chicago Becomes the Center of the Professional Softball World

Less than two weeks after the AUSL Championship Series concluded, the league shifts to the Chicago area for nearly a month as Rosemont hosts the entire 2026 All-Star Cup.

With 12 games played at The Stadium at Parkway Bank Sports Complex, the event gives one market an extended opportunity to showcase professional softball to new and returning fans.

Building on a Historic Championship Series

The All-Star Cup is the league’s first major event following the groundbreaking Championship Series, which delivered the first professional softball game on broadcast television.

The challenge now is converting that national exposure into sustained fan engagement, ticket sales and continued momentum heading into the off-season.

The Evolution of the All-Star Cup

The 2026 edition debuts a reimagined format featuring 45 of the league’s top players competing over four weeks for an individual championship rather than a traditional one-game all-star exhibition.

The format emphasizes consistent elite play while giving fans multiple opportunities to see the sport’s biggest stars.

A Showcase for the Future of Professional Softball

The All-Star Cup isn’t just celebrating the 2026 season—it’s a proving ground for where the league is headed.

Following the successful launch of permanent home markets in Year 2, the event allows AUSL to experiment with new fan experiences, player-driven storytelling and broadcast presentations while keeping the sport in the spotlight.

One Final Opportunity for Awards and Recognition

With the team championship decided, the All-Star Cup shifts the focus to individual excellence.

Players will compete not only for wins, but also to cement their place among the league’s elite and carry momentum into the off-season and international competition.

Keeping Softball in the National Conversation

Instead of ending after the championship, the AUSL extends its calendar through the end of August with nationally televised games across ESPN platforms, CBS Sports Network and MLB Network.

That continued visibility helps maintain interest during one of the busiest stretches of the sports calendar and reinforces the league’s year-over-year growth.
