Last Saturday—July 25, 2026—not only saw the exciting PGF 18U and 16U Premier Championships played at Deanna Manning Stadium in Bill Barber Park, Irvine, Calif., the softball-dominated day also featured two outstanding PGF All-Star Games, the Futures & Seniors, taking the field to showcase their talents.

One person who must have been really excited about the course of the two talent-laden games would be UCLA Head Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez as the MVPs of both games are future Bruins… and both had impressive home runs in their respective games!

PGF Futures All-American Game – 3 PM PST

The first of the two PGF All-Star game on Saturday featured the PGF Futures All-Americans, the Class of 2027’s versus the ‘28’s or the elite Juniors against top Sophomores.

Addison DeRoche, the Florida State-bound pitcher representing the Juniors squad, took the mound in the top of the 1^st to kick off the 10^th edition of the annual PGF Futures All-American Game.

The standout right-hander from Maine, who was ranked No. 2 in the latest Line Drive Media HOT 100, got a smooth 1-2-3 inning and then in the bottom of the first inning, the older players quickly threatened thanks to an infield error and a flare single to right field by Emma Reynolds against pitcher Sophia Schlader, ranked No. 1 in the 2028 HOT 100 when published last year.

Lola Gamble, the Texas commit, put the first runs on the board with a double to right field to put the score at 2-0.

Georgia-bound Morgan Maxwell pitching for the Juniors team:

Goose Hutchens then doubled to make the score 3-0, and shortly after, with runners on first and second, infielder Niayi Calvo stepped up and promptly homered over the left center field fence to put the score at 6-0.

To get out of the inning and stop the bleeding, Team Sophomore team shortstop Kate McCartney fielded a ground ball with runners on second and first and stepped on second and turned the double play to end the rough first inning that saw the Junior All-Americans go up by two field goals.

Top second, DeRoche took the mound again and faced her counterpart in Schlader who hit a towering home run over the left center fence at Bill Barber Stadium in Irvine, Calif.

After a hitter back, with two outs Rylie Silva singled to right and KK Encinas hit a flair single to left that brought home to Brooklyn Evans to make the score 6-2 after one and a half.

In bottom of the third, Charlize Massingale, a UCLA committed catcher playing for the red shirted Juniors team who was spotlighted just last week in the Line Drive series The Final Pitch, hit a blast off the top of the left field that bounced back into the grass for a double.

Morgan Waln got an infield hit and no outs runners on second and first, but Schlader got a force out at second, a strikeout and a flyout to get through the inning with no damage done.

In the top of the 3^rd, Hannah DeMarcus—who minutes before led her Georgia Impact – Taylor team to the 18U Premier National Championship and was named earlier in July as a Line Drive Media 1^st Team High School All-American—took the mound for the Junior All-American team and promptly got a strikeout, a groundout and fly out for a clean 1-2-3 inning.

In the bottom of three, Rylee Silva took the mound for the Soph’s and gave up a bunt single on a ball that rolled back but stopped right behind the plate for a single.

A groundout and a flyout on a nice catch by Mia West at third base ended the inning for the Sophomores, who still trailed 6-2.

Brielle Gardner, the Texas A&M commit, took over the pitching duties for the Juniors in the top of the 4^th inning and didn’t allow a run while her counterpart, Ali Evans, also was impressive in not giving up a hit or run in the lower half of the inning

In the bottom of the 5^th, however, the big bats came out.

Teagan Lehman smacked a three-run homer and Massingale lifted a two-run blast of her own to put the game out of reach enroute to the 9-2 final.

Charlize Masingale greeted at home plate after her home run in the bottom of the 5th inning to push the lead to 9-2:

Masingale was named the Futures Game MVP after hitting her two-run homer along with the double that was a near home run as it bounced off the top of the wall.

Counting her “one and a half” home runs, in addition to those by Massingale and Lehman, it was quite the night for the offensive fireworks.
