Day 3 Recap

Game 1

Day 3 of the AFCS did not disappoint!

Kallaway Crenshaw holds her home run ball and wears the goat necklace her teammates put on her after her big blast in Thursday AFCS action.

In our first of two games, we started the day with a 9 am match-up against Hustle Premier out of Texas. I got the start in the circle and, thanks to an incredible defensive effort behind me, allowed zero runs while striking out seven.

I also finished with a .125 batting average against (BAA).

Our offense was on absolute fire, collecting 11 hits as a team.

Some of the highlights included:

  • Ella Roche getting a single and double,
  • Aria Brown also hitting a single and double
  • Me: I was able to get a triple and home run.

Kayla Gardner and I combined for nine RBIs and our team finished with a .423 batting average for the game, which ended in an 11-0 run rule after five innings.

Game 2

After a one-game break, we returned to face the well-known Oklahoma Athletics, which has the AFCS Home Run Derby champion on this team, so we knew we had another tough matchup ahead.

Layla D’Amico got the start in the circle, allowing just two hits over three innings while striking out two.

Kayla Gardner entered in the fourth inning, allowing zero hits to earn the save.

Once again, our bats stayed hot. We scored five runs in the first inning, highlighted by:

  • my triple,
  • a double by Cam Algeo,
  • and singles from Aria Brown, Layla D’Amico, Abby Kotula, and Caroline Blackburn.
The Atlanta Vipers 12U – Kotula team enjoyed two more wins on Thursday at the Alliance 12U Nationals.

Our offense finished with an incredible 14 hits in the game and, as a team, we posted an unbelievable .636 batting average!

Here’s how they were spread out among our hitters:

  • Me: three hits (two doubles and a triple)
  • Cam: two hits (one double and a single)
  • Caroline: two singles
  • Layla: two singles
  • Abby: two singles
  • Aria: two singles

Our defense was flawless all game led by Aria who had eight putouts at first base.

The game ended in a fourth inning 13-1 run rule and now we look forward to Friday as we play at 3:45 pm as we continue our run.
