The Division I softball transfer portal officially opens on June 8—three days after the conclusion of the 2026 Women’s College World Series—and over 100 players have officially announced their decision to change schools.
One of the most recent is Gigi Ganje, the freshman outfielder for the University of Pennsylvania who earned 1st team All-Ivy League honors and was 2nd Team All-East Region by the NFCA after batting .428 with a .532 on-base percentage.
The California native also set three season records for the Quakers this year: most home runs (16), highest slugging percentage (.921, currently ranking her No. 17 in the country) and highest OPS (1.453, No. 18 nationally) and was also ranked No. 1 or 2 in several offensive categories in the Ivy League.
Here’s a highlight reel of several of her home runs and great defensive play:

Also impressive was her tremendous defensive play in the grass that saw her record 13 outfield assists and multiple home run-robbing leaps over the fence.
One college baseball and softball analytics company predicted that—based on her stats—Ganje will be one of the top players in the transfer portal this year.
Ganje graduated from Aliso Niguel (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) High in 2024 and was a four-time All-League selection.
She played her last three years of travel ball for Ken Briggs’s BSC Bengals – Briggs team and was ranked No. 13 in her class by Line Drive Media’s Brentt Eads.

Line Drive will have more on Gigi next week including a Q&A and how she got a very interesting marketing deal in Philadelphia where she had a health drink named after her!
