THE FINAL PITCH: HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, NORTH CAROLINA’S DYNASTY

High Point Christian Academy has developed into a softball dynasty in North Carolina.

The Cougars just completed a 23-3 season to win their fifth consecutive state championship in the Tar Heel State.

High Point Christian Academy (HPCA) is a small Christian school in High Point, NC, with an enrollment of 900 students that was founded by Green Street Baptist Church in 1996.

“Winning five consecutive state championships is a reflection of the commitment and culture these young women have built together over the years,” HPCA coach Todd Smith said. “To win one title is difficult. To win five in a row takes consistency, toughness and a culture that not only shines on the field, but off.

“Our families, students, faculty, alumni and supporters have poured so much into this program and our players take tremendous pride in representing them the right way. The championships are meaningful, but the relationships, character and standard of excellence this team has established are what will leave the lasting legacy. I’m incredibly proud of our players, assistant coaches and everyone connected to this program.”

Georgia Tech-committed IF/OF Blakely Bowman, Coastal Carolina-committed IF Kerri Langfitt, Jacksonville-committed P/UT Paisley Dixon and Virginia Wesleyan-bound OF Hailey Allred were the leaders for HPCA.

“I came to High Point Christian during COVID to keep learning in person with no real long-term plan, but after helping win our first state championship as a 7th grader, everything kind of took off,” said Blakely Bowman, who is one of the standouts for Team NC-Bowman. “The friendships, culture and faith-based foundation at HPCA is what allows us all the opportunity to have success. This community has helped me grow just as much off the field as on it and for that I will forever be grateful!

“Now, going into my senior year, it’s crazy to think we’ve won five state championships in five years, chasing a sixth, ranked #2 in the state and nationally ranked for the first time by MaxPreps.”

Stay tuned for more from the Carolinas’ powerhouse.
