A high school softball game in California was held on a week ago Friday (April 24, 2026) and a hockey fight broke out.
Well, not exactly but in a sport where decorum, respect and civility are usually the way to go, the post-game “Good Game” high-fiving turned into flying fists and punches thrown.
The Central East (Fresno) Bengals broke an 6-6 tie with the game-winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning against the Clovis Cougars and—like the nicknames of the two teams—a cat fight broke out.
Here’s the footage courtesy of local ABC affiliate of the scrum started at Central East when what appears to be a coach/player in black pants stormed the field and accosted the pitcher of Clovis West.
Players, coaches and even some parents who ran onto the field broke up the fight.
The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)—the governing body of California high school sports—is evaluating the situation and what punishments and consequences should be issued.
A tense and heated rivalry, yes, but not a good look for the schools involved and the sport overall.
