NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll

Texas, Texas Tech remain top two in NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll

Texas and Texas Tech remain as the top two teams in this week’s 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The gap between the Longhorns (31-2), who had their program-record 29-game win streak snapped on Sunday, and the Red Raiders (34-2) has been reduced to a mere nine points.

Texas started the week with three one-run victories, one at Texas State and two at home versus No. 16 Texas A&M before its streak was snapped by the Aggies, 9-7, in the Southeastern Conference series finale. The Longhorns didn’t go quietly, launching a pair of two-out home runs in the bottom of the seventh to get within two, but A&M was able to shut the door and secure the victory.

Texas Tech dispatched all of its opponents last week with four more run-rule victories (23 on the year), totaling 48 runs against Tarleton State and Iowa State. In the process cruising to those wins, the Red Raiders set a single-season program record for home runs on Sunday (75), after launching five in the finale against Cyclones.

Oklahoma and Alabama moved into the No. 3 and 4 spots this week leapfrogging over No. 5 Florida, which suffered a SEC series loss at new-No. 9 Arkansas. The Sooners (34-3) capped off a SEC series road sweep of Ole Miss last Monday (March 23) before taking two of three from then-No. 20 LSU in Baton Rouge. OU sandwiched 3-2 (8 inn.) and 8-4 wins around a 3-1 defeat on Saturday which ended a 22-game win streak.

The Crimson Tide (33-2) stepped out of league play and picked up four non-conference wins at home, posting three shutouts outscoring their opponents, 42-1.

The fifth-ranked Gators (33-4) were upended twice by the Razorbacks in Fayetteville to drop two spots in the rankings.

Florida State, which now owns Division I’s longest active winning streak at 21 games, elevated to No. 6 after it blanked North Florida and swept its ACC series at RV Clemson. The 7-3 win by the Seminoles (32-4) on Sunday was head coach Lonni Alameda’s 1000th in her Hall of Fame coaching career. She is the 12th active Division I coach to eclipse 1,000 wins (1,000-388-3 / .720).

Tennessee fell again this week, dropping three more spots to No. 7. The Lady Vols (30-5) suffered an SEC series loss to Ole Miss at home over the weekend and have lost four of their last five contests. The Rebels were able to take home a pair of 2-1 victories before UT salvaged a 4-3 triumph in the series finale.

No. 8 Nebraska and previously-mentioned Arkansas each moved up a spot following their conference series wins. The Huskers (26-6) knocked off then-No. 7 UCLA twice in Lincoln to secure the top-10 Big Ten matchup. Nebraska opened with a 4-1 victory to end the Bruins’ (29-5) 22-game win streak with UCLA returning the favor with a 6-5 game-two triumph, snapping the Huskers’ 14-game win streak. Nebraska captured the series with an 8-4 victory on Sunday. With those two losses, the Bruins come in at No. 10.

There was a little bit of movement amongst the teams outside the top 10. Virginia (31-3) inched up to No. 12, just one spot behind in-state and ACC rival Virginia Tech (31-4). No. 19 Oklahoma State (25-10) and No. 20 Arizona State (28-9) improved two spots, while a red-hot Washington Huskies program (30-6) comes in at No. 21 on a 20-game winning streak.

The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences. Records reflect games played through March 29.

NFCA Division I Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

Texas A&M’s Micaela Wark and Mississippi State’s Peja Gould were named Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week for contests played March 23-29.

Over four games last week, Wark batted .750 (9-for-12) with three home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored. She slugged 1.500, reached base at a .786 clip, was 5-for-6 with runners in scoring position and a perfect 4-for-4 with two outs. Wark recorded three hits, including a home run, with two RBI in the Aggies victory over No. 1 Texas, snapping the Longhorns’ 29-game winning streak. She also homered and drove in three runs in game one of the series. Wark’s other longball came against Sam Houston State (3 R, 2 RBI).

Gould was on point in her two complete-game shutouts last week, including her first career no-hitter against UT Martin. The senior hurler fanned 14 Skyhawks and walked one to record the program’s 10th seven-inning no-hitter and 28th overall. Gould was dominant in her next start, holding then-No. 23 South Carolina to no runs on just two hits. She struck out nine Gamecocks and walked three.

The awards are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee, which features one member coach from each of the NCAA’s 31 conferences.

No. 1 West Texas A&M runs win streak to 18

West Texas A&M ran its win streak to 18 games and continues as the unanimous No. 1 team in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. On the other end of the poll, No. 25 Franklin Pierce, out of the Northeast 10 Conference, is nationally ranked for the first time in program history.

WT (31-3) picked up two more Lone Star Conference victories, 13-5 and 3-2, at home against Eastern New Mexico. Currently 21-1 in league play, the first-place Lady Buffs host second-place UT Tyler and Texas Woman’s in a pair of LSC doubleheaders.

Franklin Pierce posted a 5-1 mark last week, seeing its 10-game win streak snapped at Bridgeport in a game two defeat, 6-5 in five innings. The Ravens (18-2), who are off to their best start in program history (tied with the 2022 team), have won 14 of their last 15 games and have started conference play 8-0.

No. 2 Cal State San Marcos swept its second consecutive four-game CCAA series, knocking off then-No. 25 Cal State Monterey Bay on the road. The Cougars (32-3) outscored the Otters (22-14), 41-19, which included a season-high 19 runs in a 19-6 series-opening win.

The NightHawks (30-5) blanked Short in a mid-week twinbill and trumped Georgia Southwestern three times in a Peach Belt Conference sweep. The Gorillas (34-1) are the only one-loss program in Division II after they picked up a pair of MIAA doubleheader sweeps at Emporia State and Washburn to run their win streak to 14 games.

Fifth-ranked AUM (28-5) won its Gulf South Conference series at then-No. 15 West Florida, taking game one and three in a weekend that featured three one-run contests.

No. 6 Saint Leo (30-2-1) reached the 30-win mark and have won 25 straight following a Sunshine State Conference sweep of then-No. 24 Florida Tech to remain perfect in SSC play (15-0).

NFCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll

Marlins stay atop NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll

Unbeaten Virginia Wesleyan extended its win streak to 24 games to maintain its hold on the top spot in the NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll, the Association announced on Tuesday.

The (24-0) Marlins, who haven’t lost since last year’s NCAA Division III championship series, added six more victories to stay No. 1 in the rankings for a fourth straight week. Virginia Wesleyan logged twinbill sweeps of Randolph, Roanoke and Bridgewater (Va.).

Second-ranked Trine (15-1), which dealt the Marlins their last defeat in winning its second national title in the past three years, continued their winning ways as well, taking two from Ohio Northern in its only action. In fact, no team in the first 14 lost, going a combined 39-0, which resulted in no changes among the top nine ranked squads.

The first change came at No. 10, where Tufts (15-3) led a gain of one place apiece for the next four teams. WashU (16-3-1), Simpson (17-2) and St. Thomas (21-5) were the other three.

A split at then-No. 25 Eastern dropped Rowan (17-5) four spots to 14th, ahead of Chapman (20-5) and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (16-4), who both moved up three places. Stockton (15-1) continued its solid start, collecting four more triumphs to go from receiving votes to the No. 19 position.

Husson, which was poised to stay at No. 22 after not playing, was actually voted two places higher, with just three votes separating the (13-1) Eagles, Central (16-2) and Concordia (22-6) in spots 20-22. The No. 22 Tornadoes lead four newcomers to close out the Top 25 this week.

The NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll is selected by 10 NCAA Division III head coaches representing the 10 NCAA regions. Current 2026 records are listed, with first-place votes in parentheses.
