3/24/26 (Week 7)
Riding a program-best 26-game winning streak, Texas ascended to No. 1 in this week’s 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Longhorns (28-1), who have not lost since the third game of the season (Nebraska), earned all but one first-place vote and sit atop the rankings for the first time since being voted the 2026 preseason favorites.
Texas stepped out of conference play last week, taking care of business against instate and former Big 12 foe Baylor. The Longhorns trumped the Bears in a pair of run-rule affairs (10-2, 10-0). The win streak is the longest active in Division I and is tied with Colorado Christian (DII) for the longest across the three NCAA divisions.
Texas wasn’t the only program to make moves as the entire top six are in different sports this week. Texas Tech and Florida come in at No. 2 and No. 3 following wins against nationally-ranked opponents. The Red Raiders (30-2) picked up three road wins at then-No. 24 UCF in Big 12 action, while the Gators (31-2) knocked Tennessee out of the driver’s seat with a pair of victories over the Lady Vols (28-3) in a top-five matchup at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. After the Lady Vols earned a 2-1 win in the series opener, the Gators rebounded with 5-2 and 3-2 wins. With those two defeats, Tennessee dipped to No. 4.
Oklahoma pushed itself back into the top five as the fifth-ranked Sooners (31-2) ran their win streak to 20 games with three road wins last week. OU scored a combined 39 runs against Memphis and Ole Miss and pitched a shutout against each opponent.
Alabama went 3-1 last week and dropped to No. 6. The Crimson Tide (29-2) topped ULM 4-1 in a midweek matchup before taking the Southeastern Conference series at Missouri. In a closely-contested series, Alabama won games one and three by one run with the Tigers taking game two, 5-2.
The final four programs stayed the same as No. 7 UCLA (27-3), No. 8 Florida State (28-4), No. 9 Nebraska (24-5) and No. 10 Arkansas (27-4) went a combined 12-0 last week. The Bruins, Seminoles and Huskers extended their win streaks to 21, 17 and 14 games, respectively.
No. 17 Grand Canyon (33-1), the last of the undefeated DI programs, suffered its first loss of the season, falling to new-no. 21 Oklahoma State, 10-5 in a mid-week matchup. The Lopes did rebound with a Mountain West sweep of San Jose State.
Two programs made their way back into the rankings as No. 24 Duke (22-10) returns after a two-week hiatus, while No. 25 Washington (26-6) makes its 2026 debut and first ranking since Feb. 11, 2025. The Blue Devils have won nine of their last 10 after thumping UNCW and sweeping Georgia Tech in ACC action. The Huskies are on a 16-game win streak after they blanked North Dakota and took all three from Michigan in Big Ten play.
Making way for this week’s newcomers was then-No. 24 UCF (24-10) and then-No. 25 Clemson (22-10).
The 2026 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences. Records reflect games played through March 22.

Unbeaten Virginia Wesleyan and one-loss Trine kept rolling to strengthen their grip on the top two spots in the NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll, the Association announced on Tuesday.
The No. 1 (18-0) Marlins and second-ranked (13-1) Thunder were the last two teams standing last season, in reverse order, with Trine winning its second NCAA title in the past three years by beating three-time winner Virginia Wesleyan (2017, 2018, 2021) in the best-of-three championship series last June.
Trine was the top team in the poll the first two weeks of this season, before a 6-4 ranked loss to Berry on March 7 at the NFCA Division III Leadoff presented by MaxBP allowed the Marlins to overtake them for the No. 1 position three weeks ago. Since then, the two teams have combined for 18 straight wins, including 14 over a 14-day span for Virginia Wesleyan.
The Marlins play a doubleheader at Randolph later today, while Trine is also in action, traveling to Ohio Northern.
The rankings shift significantly after those first two, with No. 4 Saint Mary’s (14-2) the only other team holding its poll spot from last week before getting to Chapman (20-5) at No. 18. Husson (13-1) is the fifth of the five unchanged teams at No. 22. Linfield (18-2) is the new No. 3 squad after gaining four spots, while Texas Lutheran (21-3), which had been third, slipped to fifth after a ranked twinbill split with Tufts (11-3).
This week’s new team really isn’t a newcomer after all. Perennial poll regular Central (15-1) makes its 2026 debut at No. 20 after running its win streak to 12 with eight more victories over the past week. That included NFCA Hall of Famer George Wares’ Division III-record 1,300th career triumph during the Dutch’s Florida trip.
Two other head coaches in the poll reached milestones this week. Chapman’s Janet Lloyd became the 20th coach in Division III history to achieve 800 wins when her Panthers won the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Elmhurst on Monday. She ranks eighth in victories among active coaches in the division. Meanwhile, Kevin Griffin of No. 21 Belhaven scored his 500th triumph in the Blazers’ sweep of Wesleyan on Saturday.
Just over two weeks ago, Linfield coach Jackson Vaughan got the milestone spring going by tying Hall of Fame Saint Mary’s coach John Tschida for quickest to 900 wins with a March 8 victory at George Fox.
The NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll is selected by 10 NCAA Division III head coaches representing the 10 NCAA regions. Current 2026 records are listed, with first-place votes in parentheses.

Virginia Wesleyan swept the latest Division III Wilson/NFCA Pitcher and Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors, the Association announced on Tuesday.
Hannah Hearl earned her second Pitcher of the Week accolade in the past three weeks, while her batterymate, catcher Taylor McQueen, captured Player of the Week honors for the first time.
Hearl, a sophomore pitcher from Orange County, Va., went 2-0 for the week, allowing just four hits and zero runs over her nine innings in the circle for the top-ranked and undefeated (18-0) Marlins. She struck out 20 and allowed two walks. The right-hander earned her first weekly award of the season on March 10.
McQueen, meanwhile, was a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate this past week. The junior from Clayton, N.C., had two doubles, two home runs, six runs scored, six RBI and stole three bases. Three of her four games were multi-hit affairs, and McQueen scored twice in two of the four contests.
