This is Brentt Eads of Line Drive Media , the originator of club-age player rankings in softball (a story for another day!).

Sometimes I get so involved in the process and work it takes to research, identify and honor these talented and hard-working players that I lose sight of what it means to the players to be recognized.

Last year, I received this wonderful email from Class of 2028 standout who shared her thoughts on how the rankings motivate her.

I’m leaving her name out to not draw attention to who she is but more on her message; however,  but this could be many softballers across all ages who appreciate the recognition they get for working hard to better their skills in the game they (and WE!)  love so much.

It might be a bit early for this player to compete in the 2028 Olympics, but down the road we hopefully will see her representing the USA on the global stage!
Brentt,

I just wanted to say “Thank you” so very much for noticing all the hard work I have been putting in, through your rankings.

I really do appreciate it.

I can tell you this, that it has definitely helped me in my recruiting process since more large schools have taken notice.

My goal has never changed since I was a little girl and that’s not just to play D-1 ball or make it to the College World Series.  My ultimate goal is to represent my country in the Olympics and I truly believe I will get there.

Your rankings help me become even more motivated and to push a little harder each and every day.

So again, thanks for all you do.

To this wonderful softball standout and all who dream big like her, may you keep pushing to realize your dreams… and when you are on the Olympic team, I’ll be happy to be in the stadium cheering you on!
