Social Media Viral Clip: In Your Opinion, Is This Baseball Home Run Celebration “Electric” & A Fun Celebration? Or Way Too Excessive & Poor Sportsmanship? (Mar. 7, 2026)

This is Brentt Eads of Line Drive.

As I was going through social media looking at softball clips, I came across this one from the 2026 World Baseball Classic featuring the Dominican Republic facing Nicaragua Friday evening.

In it, Dominican third baseman Junior Caminero, who is also an All-Star for the Tampa Bay Rays, hits a two-run in the 6th inning and his home run trot and celebration is… well… let’s just say “celebratory!”

It was in the 6th inning and broke a 3-3 tie in a game that Junior’s team would go on to win 12-3.

Here’s the home run clip which I’ve probably watched over 20 times…

Now, the question I’d love to get your opinion on:

Is this a fun celebration of a big play in the game or a poor showing of bad sportsmanship?

Some of the responses I saw on social media were positive and others negative… they included:

  • How do you not throw at him next at bat if you are Nicaragua? I’d go head hunting.
  • When I first saw this clip I thought it had to be a walk off, but does that say bottom of the 6th?
  • The fact that this isn’t even his craziest HR celebration… I want to be as cool as Junior Caminero someday
  • The sound of that bat? Pure violence. The bat flip? Elite. The “Electric Factory” is open for business and the vibes are officially off the charts.
  • Drill him with 95 mph in the rib cage next AB for the way over the top 6th inning home run trot
  • 1.) I love it. 2.) That seems a tad excessive for the 6th inning. 3.) Definitely love it.
  • Every move he makes shocks the field… Incredible talent!
  • I truly believe about 20% of the time this is forced emotion. That is not that big of a hit for all that. I 100% get it when they play in the Dominican, but I think even they know that wasn’t that crazy

So what do YOU think?

Not directly softball related, no, but it touches on the bigger topic of sportsmanship which involves every sport and athlete.

Email me your thoughts at Brentt.Eads@LineDriveMedia.com… I may do a follow-up article on this so let me know if I can include your name with your opinion.

Thanks!
