USA Softball News: Megan Faraimo and Destinee McElroy Named to 24-Person Board of Directors as Elite Athlete Reps For 2026 (January 17, 2026)

The USA Softball Board of Directors (BOD) welcomed two new members this week with Megan Faraimo and Destinee McElroy stepping into a pair vacant “Elite Athlete Rep” positions.

USA Softball is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors, which will include eight current or former women’s and men’s athletes in Faraimo (Women’s National Team), McElroy (WNT), Ally Carda (WNT), Aubrey Leach (WNT), Nick Mullins (Men’s National Team), Blaine Milheim (MNT), Zac Shaw (MNT), and Mike Lewis (MNT) in 2026.

The Board of Directors consists of:

  • The President (1)
  • The President-Elect (1)
  • The Immediate Past President (1)
  • Regional Vice Presidents (10)
  • Elite Athlete Representatives (8, elected by the athletes)
  • An At-Large Director (1, elected by the BOD)
  • An Independent Director (1, elected by the BOD)
  • An Affiliated Organization Director (1, elected by the affiliated organizations)

Megan Faraimo, Pitcher, Oceanside, Calif. (UCLA, ’23)

  • Megan Faraimo
    Has been a part of four gold medals (2025 World Games, 2022 Pan American Championship, 2022 World Games, 2019 WBSC U-19 World Cup), a silver medal (2024 WBSC World Cup) and a Bronze (2019 International Cup) as part of Team USA.
  • Named to the All-World Team at the 2025 World Games after going 2-0 in the circle with 17 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched.
  • Was 2-0 at the 2024 WBSC World Cup with 18 strikeouts, earning Best ERA (2.05) and Best W/L Average.
  • Five-time All-American at UCLA, earning first-team honors in 2020 and 2021.
  • Three-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year finalist, also earning Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
  • Named Softball America Pitcher of the Year in 2020 after earning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2019 on the way to winning the Women’s College World Series.
  • 2018 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year.
 
Megan on what it means to be named to the USAS BOD:

“As our sport continues to expand, it’s important to maintain the spirit and integrity of the game,” Megan said.

“Representing USA Softball means leading with these values at every level, which is a worthy mission that I am honored to encourage in our community as a new member of the Board of Directors.”

Destinee McElroy, Outfielder, Corona, Calif. (Oklahoma, ’14)

  • Destinee McElroy
    Has won four medals as a part of Team USA (2014 World Cup, Silver; 2013 Pan American Games Qualifier, Gold; 2011 ISF Junior World Championships, Gold; 2010 U-18 Pan American Championship, Gold).
  • Had four RBIs and 10 runs (.375) during the Pan American Games Qualifier in 2013.
  • Started in four of the eight games played in the 2010 Pan American Championships, going 2-for-4 (.500) with an RBI and two runs.
  • Three-time All-Big 12 selection, earning first team in 2013 and 2011.
  • Helped lead Oklahoma to a national championship in 2013, earning spots on the WCWS All-Tournament Team and the NFCA All-Central Region second team.
  • Earned All-Tournament honors at the WCWS in 2012 during OU’s second-place finish, also securing second-team All-Big 12 honors.
  • Also earned NFCA All-Central Region first team in 2011.
  • Current Chief of Staff of the Oklahoma City Spark (AUSL).
 
Destinee on what it means to be named to the USAS BOD:

“This organization gave me the foundation to chase my dreams, and I’m excited to give back by helping strengthen the sport for athletes, coaches, and communities across the country.”
