Club News: What's Your New Year's Resolution? (Jan. 1, 2026)

Line Drive Softball likes to find out what the top club players are thinking about the latest issues, so we throw out a question to some of them from around the country. Here’s the latest question:

What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

Here’s how they answered:

  • Emma Hackler, 2026, LHP/UT, Aces Fastpitch National/Poteau High, OK, Mississippi State: “I would say my New Year’s Resolution personally is to start reading my Bible more days than I don’t. I would also like to start thinking more positively about things and trusting God’s plan for me instead of me trying to control or plan it all out. Softball-wise is to start lifting even more consistently than I do now, including stretching afterwards, lol, and to be even more consistent and disciplined in my softball workouts and not miss any days of individual work that could make me an even better player.”

  • Maddie Henry, 2026, MIF/3B/C, Illinois Chill Gold/Lincoln-Wat East High, IL, Penn State: “For my New Year’s Resolution, I’m really focused on getting into a solid groove with my personal trainer. We’ve been working on building strength and I’m excited to feel that power when the season starts. Right now, I’m putting in the work to get faster and stronger and I’m looking forward to seeing the results on the field once the season kicks off. (I) just want to be in the best shape possible to make an impact this (year).”

  • McLaine Hudson, 2026, IF, Louisville Lady Sluggers-Wathen/South Warren High, KY, Florida State: “My 2026 resolution is to focus on the controllables, effort, preparation and attitude and let the results take care of themselves.”
Ava Jacobs of Stars National-Coleman signed with Florida Atlantic. Photo provided by Ava Jacobs.
  • Ava Jacobs, 2026, C/3B, Stars National-Coleman/North Rockland High, NY, Florida Atlantic: “This year, my New Year’s Resolution is to be present and really appreciate this season of my life — on and off the field. I want to enjoy the journey and continue making memories with my family and friends. I also want to compete with heart, keep loving what I do and take everything I learn and carry it all with me into the next chapter at FAU.”
Taylor Johns of Athletics Mercado-Smith signed with Georgia. Photo provided by Taylor Johns.
  • Taylor Johns, 2026, MIF/OF, Athletics Mercado-Smith/Palo Verde High, NV, Georgia: “A couple of my New Year’s resolutions are to become more consistent with the little things in my routine that make me better in softball, school and just life. Along with starting to judge myself by effort, preparation and growth rather than stats, grades or opinions.”
