Breaking News: KC Diamonds Announce Launch as Kansas City’s New Professional Softball Team (December 2, 2025)

Kansas City will soon have a new professional sports team to rally behind.

The KC Diamonds, a women’s professional fastpitch softball organization, officially announced its launch and are now signing players ahead of their inaugural 2026 season.

The Diamonds will carry a 16-player professional roster while also offering an open pathway for athletes to earn a spot through a public tryout.

The team’s first official open tryout will be held Sunday, December 29, 2025, at the Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO).

Additional tryout details, registration information, and roster updates will be released in the coming days.

The KC Diamonds will play its home games at Legends Field in Kansas City.

The KC Diamonds will play their home games at Legends Field in Kansas City, Kansas, one of the premier sports venues in the metro and home to the Kansas City Monarchs professional baseball club.

The team will operate with a full professional infrastructure at Legends Field, including a dedicated home locker room, ticket sales office, game-day experience staff, premium suites, and a planned media and broadcast partnership for the 2026 season.

“We’re incredibly excited to put our roots into a city that has always supported professional sports and embraced teams that represent its community,” said Jeremy McDowell, General Manager of the KC Diamonds.

“At the same time, this is about opportunity — giving more women the chance to continue playing this game professionally. Women’s pro softball is on the rise, and we’re proud to be part of that momentum.”

“Our hope is that this sport keeps growing into something like the NWSL or WNBA, where athletes can build careers and eventually play for a truly livable wage.”

“Kansas City is the perfect place to help push that future forward.”

The KC Diamonds will compete in a 32–to-36 game schedule running from June 1 through the end of July 2026, featuring home and away match-ups against top professional clubs across the country.

The full season schedule will be announced by December 29, 2025

With player signings underway, a major home venue secured, and the Kansas City area’s softball and sports communities continuing to grow, the KC Diamonds are poised to become a marquee addition to the city’s professional landscape in 2026.
