Northeast’s (Mo.) Olivia Cross captured the latest MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week award, the Association announced on Monday.
She is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Oct. 13-19.
Cross tossed a three-hit shutout in the Bearcats’ 9-0 victory over South Shelby last Monday.
The senior fanned 16 and walked one over seven innings in the circle. She also helped herself on offense with a three-RBI single and a stolen base.
It was the second straight game with double-digit strikeouts for Cross after collecting 10, including the 700th of her career, on Oct. 9 against Harrisburg.
She also recorded 14 strikeouts in a Sept. 29 three-hitter versus Fayette.
