Alexander’s (Ga.) Erin Vineyard captured the latest MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Fall Player of the Week award, the Association announced on Monday. She is being recognized for her outstanding play for the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Vineyard shined on both offense and defense this past week. The senior was a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate and was the winning pitcher in two of three contests for the Cougars.
She collected at least two hits in all three games, including two doubles in a 3-for-3 effort against Newman, and three doubles and five RBI in a win over Westlake. For the week, Vineyard amassed 12 RBI, a 1.625 slugging percentage and .909 on-base average.
In the circle, she appeared in all three of Alexander’s victories, winning the games against Lithia Springs and Westlake. Vineyard totaled 7.1 innings altogether, allowing six hits, walking five and fanning 12.
