The four teams advancing to the Super Round at the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2025 are set. USA, Japan, China and Mexico have secured their spots in the Super Round and remain in contention for the Title of World Champion.
USA and Japan have won their groups undefeated while China clinched second place in Group A.
Mexico’s victory over Czechia in the last game of the day created a three-way tie for second place in Group B with Puerto Rico. The tie-breaker placed Mexico second, Czechia third and Puerto Rico fourth in the final group standings.

In Group A, China beat Canada, 10-0, and Chinese Taipei, 4-1, to clinch second place with a 2-1 mark.
USA beat Canada 11-1 and finished undefeated on top of the standings. Chinese Taipei (third place) and Canada (fourth) will play the Placement Round
In Group B, Japan secured first place with their two wins today against Mexico, 13-0, and Puerto Rico, 8-1, closing Opening Round with perfect record.
Mexico defeated Czechia, 9-5, and forced a triple tie with Puerto Rico at 1-2. The tie-break system placed Mexico second, Czechia third and Puerto Rico fourth.

USA closed Group A play in commanding fashion, defeating Canada 11-1 in four innings to finish the Opening Round undefeated. The defending world champions had already secured first place in the group and a Super Round berth prior to the matchup.
McLaine Hudson (2-for-2, 2 runs), Aspen Boulware (2-for-2, 3 runs, 2 RBI) and Juliana Hutchens (1-for-1, run, 3 RBI) stayed perfect at the plate, powering a 10-hit offensive display.
Ella Smith earned the win in relief, working 1.2 innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out one.

Japan stormed to a 13-0 victory over Mexico in Sunday’s opener at Devon Park, scoring 13 runs on 13 hits across the first three innings. Leadoff hitter Mayuha Ishikawa set the tone with a 3-for-3 performance and three runs scored, while Yumeka Kagen, Rino Shimazu, Erin Sato and Mebae Noguchi each drove in two runs.
Shion Yamamoto earned her first win of the tournament, tossing four innings of one-hit ball with one strikeout.
Mexico’s lone hit came from Karina Rodriguez, who singled to the opposite field in the fourth inning. Starter Lilianna Acosta took the loss.

China earned its first win of the tournament with a 10-0, four-inning victory over Canada, fueled by a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth at Devon Park. The result evened the Asian team’s record at 1-1.
Right fielder Dan Li led the charge with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, scoring three times and driving in two runs. First baseman Min Lin and left fielder Yarui Wang chipped in with two hits apiece.
Starter Menghuan Zhou went the distance, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out four. Canada’s only hit came from Raphaelle Bouchard, while Deschanel Donovan took the loss in the circle.

A seven-run fourth inning powered Japan to an 8-1 win over Puerto Rico in their final Group B game, securing first place in the standings.
Yumeka Kagen sparked the offense, going 3-for-3 with three of Japan’s four hits. Shion Yamamoto, the 15-year-old right-hander, earned her second win of the day and the tournament, tossing four innings with three strikeouts while giving up three hits, one unearned run, and no walks.
Puerto Rico’s Olivia Ricciardi took the loss after three innings, allowing one run on one hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Another masterpiece by pitcher Menghuan Zhou guided China to a 4-1 victory over Chinese Taipei, securing a place in the Super Round. The right-hander went the distance for her second complete-game win of the day, allowing five hits and one run while striking out four.
China’s offense piled up 12 hits, with eight players contributing. Yali Huang, Xintian Li, Dan Li and Jiayi Chen each recorded two hits.
Yu-Chien Huang was charged with the loss for Chinese Taipei after surrendering six hits and three runs in two innings of work.

In a must-win game, Mexico defeated Czechia, 9-5, to clinch second place in Group B and advance to the Super Round. A decisive six-run second inning powered the win, as Mexico collected 10 hits overall.
Analia Lopez went the distance, surrendering five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. She earned her first victory of the tournament and closed the Opening Round with a 1.47 ERA over 14.1 innings.
Nikola Skardova took the loss for Czechia.
