Whenever a coach with Todd Mayfield’s background and history of success takes over a new team, you’re gonna wanna watch to see how successful he is and how quickly.
As we detailed on Friday in our article titled Club Spotlight Part 1 of 2: Q&A with Todd Mayfield as He Enters 40 Years of Coaching, Now Running the Lady Dukes Southeast 16U Team (August 22, 2025), Mayfield—who lives abouts 90 minutes north of Atlanta—is not only back on the field coaching, he’s assembled a team that looks to be one of the best at the 16U level.
In our Part 1 spotlight, Coach Todd noted how the Lady Dukes Southeast team was recently finalized and now has 16 standout players.
The team was assembled, he told us, “all by word of mouth,” and while winning is the ultimate goal, the primary focus is “about teaching the game” with the expectation the victories will follow.
Over his four decades in softball, Mayfield has helped develop hundreds of players who would go on to compete at the college level; hit ’04 group with the East Cobb Bullets alone would see players like McKaela Walker (LSU), Lottie Landmesser (Ohio State), Jayden Gailey (Georgia Tech), Tyler Ellison (Georgia) and many others go on to play collegiate ball.
The newly assembled club team will travel coast to coast this Fall and next Summer in events from Florida and Georgia in the East to PGF Nationals on the West Coast to close out its 2025-26 run.
