Brentt of Line Drive Softball here…

Barring any unforeseen “stones” attack —  be it “gall stones,” “kidney stones,” The Rolling Stones” or perhaps even “The Flintstones,” the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100 player rankings will begin this Monday… Monday, August 18, 2025.

As I detailed extensively in a post earlier this week titled Brentt Eads Health Update: Medical Situation Puts Him in Hospital, Pushes 2027 Player Rankings Back a Week (August 18, 2025), I had to unexpectedly go under the knife (surgery) Monday to have my gall bladder removed.

Seems some “stones” (that awful word again) didn’t like playing nice with my gall bladder and forced the organ to be surgically removed, which resulted in the 2027 HOT 100 rankings being pushed back a week.

Thanks for all the kind words and notes asking how I’m doing… I’m feeling much, much better now and look forward to finally launching our latest close-up look this extremely talented class.

Ironically, I think, I’ve done over 40 class rankings–the same class often updated several times until it graduates–but the only other delayed launch I remember doing was ALSO the 2027 group but for a much more enjoyable reason (you can read about it by CLICKING HERE!)

What happened? Last year at this very time, I got engaged to my now wife Shannon Eads and wanted to take some time then to celebrate the big event!

So it’s about time for us to honor these fantastic athletes, many of who will begin being contacted directly on Sept. 1 by college coaches as they prepare for their collegiate softball careers!

Each weekday for a two-week period, we will honor deserving prospects via our countdown of 10 spots each day following this UPDATED schedule:

WEEK 1:

• #’s 100-91 (Mon., Aug. 25, 2025)
• #’s 90-81 (Tue., Aug. 26, 2025)
• #’s 80-71 (Wed., Aug. 27, 2025)
• #’s 70-61 (Thu., Aug. 28, 2025)
• #’s 60-51 (Fri. Aug. 29, 2025)

WEEK 2:

• #’s 50-41 (Mon., Sept. 1, 2025)
• #’s 40-31 (Tue., Sept. 2, 2025)
• #’s 30-21 (Wed., Sept. 3, 2025)
• #’s 20-11 (Thu., Sept. 4, 2025)
• #’s 10-1 (Fri. Sept. 5, 2025)

We’ll also honor those prospects ranked #’s 101+ as well as the 2027 Class Position Rankings, Regional Rankings and a spotlight on the No. 1 rated player.

Following the Class of 2027 rankings, the Class of 2026 will be next… here’s the schedule for the upcoming senior class: 

• 2026 Line Drive HOT 100:
  • nominations officially open on Monday, Sept. 1 (Labor Day) & close Monday Sept. 29, 2025.
  • ranking postings run from from Oct. 6-17, 2025

The Line Drive HOT 100 is led by Line Drive Softball Executive Editor Brentt Eads, who began the softball player and team rankings format 15 years ago and in that time has done over 40 grad class rankings.

Each class is updated several times leading up to the players’ high school graduation and transition into college.
