Event News: 18U/16U Teams Battle for Tier 1 Elite 8 Berths at AFCS (July 24, 2025)

AFCS is being held July 20-27 in Kokomo, IN (All rankings are Line Drive Hot 50 Club Nationals Rankings):

18U Super Regionals:

#6 Aces Fastpitch Club 4-6, #39 Louisville Lady Sluggers-Wathen 2-0: Aces Fastpitch Club battled out of the loser’s bracket and beat the Lady Sluggers twice to qualify for the Elite 8.

Missouri-bound 1B/UT Sidney Forrester (2 HRs, 7 RBIs), #22 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, Texas A&M-committed 2026 CF/SS Abreya Perry (.600 AVG, 1 SB), #2 in the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100, Central Florida-bound P/1B/OF Reagan Vokoun (.571 AVG, HR) and 2027 P Cyarah Dotts (20 Ks), #11 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, led the Aces to three victories on Thursday.

“I’m so proud of my athletes,” Aces coach Ryan Taylor said. “Their fight showed out today. We lost a tough one yesterday, first game in the bottom of the 7th after leading. They bounced back and found a way to win the next one. Today, three games stood in the way and they battled with a purpose. Each player contributed and pushed us to the next step in our process.”

#2 OC Batbusters-Stith 8, Unity-Slezak 1: 2027 RHP Abby Ford pitched three strong innings and Arkansas-bound RHP Saylor Timmerman, #7 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, closed out the last couple of innings under very humid conditions and Arkansas-bound MIF Kyler Del Duca, #30 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, went 2 for 3 and 2027 3B Reese Hilliard went 2 for 3 with five and three RBIs, respectively, to lead the OC Batbusters into the Elite 8.

“(It) feels great to get to this point of the tournament with all of these great teams,” OC Batbusters coach Mike Stith said. “We will have to play some real good softball to keep moving on, but we have grown a lot this summer and look forward to the challenges.”

#17 Texas Glory 5, Unity-Torres 2: 2027 2B Hope Guadio went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and Texas Tech-committed 2026 1B Sydona Meiser had a two-run double, 2027 1B/3B Hutton “Lulu” Adrian, #8 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, went 2 for 3 with two RBI to lift Texas Glory into the Elite 8.

“Reaching the 2025 18U AFCS is a solid accomplishment for this young group,” Texas Glory coach Kevin Shelton said. “They have had a very successful summer on the field. We have made great strides, but still have plenty of growth ahead. Exciting about the Elite 8 and the future.”

#5 Texas Bombers Gold-Smith 6, NJ Pride-Stern 0: Florida-committed 2026 P Caroline Stanton allowed four hits and struck out six over six scoreless innings to lead the Bombers into the Elite 8.

“The team has been super business-like all week and today was no different,” Bombers coach Scott Smith said. “Caroline Stanton was lights out and pounded the zone, scattering three hits over six innings. Offensively, we had production up and down the order and pressed them every inning for runs. Reaching the Elite 8 in this tournament is extremely difficult to do and I could not be more proud that we advanced and have put ourselves in position to reach our ultimate goals.”

#3 Impact Gold-Jackson 8, Chicago Cheetahs-Connolly 0: Arkansas-bound RF Khamari Hall, #9 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, went 3 for 3 with a triple and Oklahoma-committed 2026 RHP EK Smith pitched a no-hitter with five strikeouts in 4.0 innings to lead Impact Gold into the Elite 8.

“It’s tough to get wins at the Alliance Fastpitch Championships,” Impact Gold coach KC Jackson said. “Getting to the Elite 8 is a testament of all the hard work our girls and coaches have put in preparing for this moment.”

#23 Oklahoma Athletics National-Madden 4-2, #12 Iowa Premier National-Dickel/James 3-1: The Athletics battled their way out of the loser’s bracket and avenged a loss by beating Iowa Premier twice to earn a spot in the Elite 8.

Texas A&M-committed 2026 RHP Darby Burnett, #19 in the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100, pitched 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits and striking four to get the win and Texas-bound RHP Hannah Wells, #12 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, got the final two outs, including a strikeout, to record the save in Game 1 against Iowa Premier.

2027 MIF/UT Bailey Tucker delivered a sacrifice fly for the walk-off win in the bottom of the 9th inning to lead the Athletics into the Elite 8.

Corona Angels-Tyson 5-5, Firecrackers Select-Rico/Brashear 4-2: The Corona Angels battled out of the loser’s bracket, avenged a loss and beat the Firecrackers twice to qualify for the Elite 8.

Oklahoma State-committed 2026 RHP Peyton May, #20 in the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100, allowed 10 hits and four runs while striking out three in 7.0 innings as the Corona Angels edged the Firecrackers in the first game.

2027 P Arri Romero, #5 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, allowed seven hits, one ER and struck out six in 7.0 innings, Jacksonville State-bound 1B/3B Tea’ Gutierrez went 1 for 2 with a double, a run and three RBIs, Southern Illinois-committed C Ashley Duran went 2 for 3 with a double and UCLA-bound SS Bri Alejandre, #3 in the 2025 Line Drive Hot 100, had two SBs in Game 2 against the Firecrackers.

#45 Tampa Mustangs-Rene 5-4, #38 Epic National-Smith 0-2: The Tampa Mustangs rallied from the loser’s bracket and beat Epic National-Smith twice to advance to the Elite 8.

Auburn-bound RHP Charley Butler pitched 3.5 innings with three strikeouts to beat Elite Chicago National, 9-1, in the loser’s bracket. Uncommitted 2026 1B Riley Johnson had two hits and a walk against Chicago.

Florida Atlantic-committed 2026 RF Kamryn Hackett went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, a run and three RBIs to help the Tampa Mustangs win the first game against Epic National-Smith. Boston College-bound RHP Sophia Bertorelli pitched in the first two games.

Penn State-bound RHP Mackenzie Duncan pitched a five-hitter with three strikeouts and Southern Florida-bound C Abbie DeWaters went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Tampa Mustangs to victory in Game 2 against Epic National-Smith.

“If we can continue to play as a team where everyone has a role and own the role they are in, they’ll be fine,” Mustangs coach Rene Ciccarello said. “They continue to fight through adversity. These players continue to pull each other up.”

Oklahoma Athletics National 26/27-Madden/Brown 3-4, #4 Texas Bombers Gold-Serie 2-3: The Athletics battled their way out of the loser’s bracket and beat Texas Bombers Gold-Serie twice to advance to the Elite 8.

2028 SS Marcela Attar’s RBI single in the top of the 8th inning helped the Athletics take Game 1.

Attar went 1 or 3 with a double, a run and three RBIs and 2027 1B Ashtyn Lynch went 2 or 2 with a home run to lead the Athletics in Game 2.

#22 Louisville Lady Sluggers-Huecker/Norwood 8, Buzz Gold 0: 2027 RHP Lucy George, #9 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts, North Carolina State-committed 2026 OF/1B Molly Southall, #11 in the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100, went 2 for 2 with a homer and two RBIs and Kentucky-committed 2026 SS/Ut Annie Newman, #10 in the 2026 Line Drive Hot 100, went 2 for 2 with two doubles to lead the Lady Sluggers into the Elite 8.

“Making the Tier 1 Elite 8 is very exciting,” Lady Sluggers coach Scott Norwood said. “These girls are playing incredible softball this week on both sides, offense and defense.”

Impact Gold-Jazz 3-2, Gators Premier-Lloyd/Meyer 1-1: Impact Gold-Jazz battled out of the loser’s bracket to beat Gators Premier twice and qualify for the Elite 8.

2027 RHP Emma Escamilla (5 IP, 5 hits, 0 ER, 3 Ks) and 2027 RHP Macie Bryant (2 IP, 0 R, 0 hits, 1 K), #1 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, combined to beat Gators Premier in Game 1.

Bryant, #1 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, threw a complete game, allowing three hits, zero earned runs and striking out nine in 7.0 innings to lead Impact Gold-Jazz in Game 2 against Gators Premier.

“Making it Elite 8 is another great accomplishment for this team!” Impact old coach Jazz Jackson-Vesely said. “They set goals at the beginning of the year and worked really hard to reach them. I’m beyond proud of each player on this team and the pride they take in doing their ‘job’ for the team! Without each player, we would be nothing.”

#5 Texas Glory 2-6, #27 Tampa Mustangs Rene-Pynes 3-0: 2027 RHP Eloisa Maes pitched a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts in 6.0 innings to get the win over the Tampa Mustangs in Game 2 to clinch a spot in the Elite 8.

“The Head Coach, Cedric Coleman, has molded his squad into a fun, energetic group that executes fearlessly and flawlessly,” Texas Glory’s Kevin Shelton said. “Excited to see how they do over the next few days.”

#34 Warrior Academy-McDonald 3, #47 Unity-Torres/McHale 0: 2027 RHP Lila McLeod pitched a five-hit shutout with two strikeouts and 2028 CF Star Gutierrez went 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI to help Warrior Academy qualify for the Elite 8.

“This is a team that loves to compete together and are used to playing in high-stress, high-pressure games and situations,” Warrior Academy coach Mickey McDonald said. “They keep coming under any circumstance. They play with high energy and pride themselves on out-hustling the other team.”

Ohio Outlaws National-Wolff/Leggins 12, Epic National-Smith 1: 2027 RHP/SS Sydney Gonglik went 2 for 2 with a double, a homer and five RBIs and pitched a three-hitter to lead the Ohio Outlaws into the Elite 8.

“Reaching the Elite 8 as a first-year 16u team is special,” Ohio Outlaws coach Jimmy Leggins said. “This team came in with the right mindset and we have executed our gameplan. We are all locked in on the ultimate goal at this point!”

Fury Platinum X-Hutchins 5, Impact Gold-Vaughn/Jazz 0: 2027 RHP Airebita Cox threw a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts, 2026 OF/IF Lindsay Tylec went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and 2027 LF Jaliyah Whitaker went 4 for 4 to lead Fury Platinum X past Impact Gold and into the Elite 8.

Team NC-Bowman 5, Midwest Speed National-Wagner 2: 2027 RHP Kaylee Hodges, #7 in the 2027 Line Drive Hot 100, allowed three hits and struck out 11 in 7.0 innings to get the win and 2027 OF/MIF/UT Savannah Coln went 2 or 4 with a homer and three RBIs as Team NC-Bowman qualified for the Elite 8.

“This achievement — making the Elite 8 at Alliance Nationals — highlights and stamps this team’s dedication, resilience and teamwork throughout a highly-competitive summer schedule,” Team NC coach Brian Bowman said. “Their hard work and belief in each other have put them among the nation’s best and making it to the Elite 8 is a testament to both their skill and their relentless pursuit of excellence. As a coach, I am incredibly proud of this group, built with 11 2027 and two 2028 players. We challenged them with this schedule and it’s no secret that every player has a summer leading into the fall they have to own. They showed up this summer stamping they belong at the next level.”
