This Week’s Line Drive Softball’s National Club Player of the Week (July 23, 2025)

*** McKenzie Leitgen had a huge week in leading her Top Gun 18U National team to the Triple Crown National Championship as she batted .640 with six home runs to be named the Tournament MVP.

The first baseman standout who is signed with the Univ. of Iowa also had a .690 on-base percentage with a 2.210 OPS and drove in 16 runs while scoring 12 herself.

Named the Tournament MVP, McKenzie was a big reason Top Gun went undefeated en route to taking home the TC Nationals trophy.

For the season, the graduated senior is hitting .414 with a .518 on-base percentage with 17 home runs, 13 doubles, a jaw-dropping 65 RBs and 42 runs scored.

McKenzie, who graduated from Desert Vista High in Phoenix, Ariz., is noted to be “an incredible hacky sack player” according to Head Coch Bob Turner.

However, the athlete’s future looks to not be in the hack sack circle but on the softball diamond thanks to her great skill with the bat.

“McKenzie is a powerful player who has an incredible plate presence and approach,” Coach Turner says.

“Her ability to swing for power, while also hitting for a high average, is a credit to her discipline.  Big Mac will very quickly make an impact on the Iowa Hawkeye program.”

Runner-Up Line Drive Softball National Club Players of the Week

*** Chloe Rowland, a 2028 pitcher/middle infielder who played up at the 16U level last week at TCS Southeast Nationals, pitched 20.2 innings with a 0.34 ERA, a .197 batting average against and gave up just one for her Fury Premier 2028 – Wall team which will now play as Impact Caymol National ‘28/’29.

Chloe also was a force at the plate hitting .412 with a .444 on-base percentage.

Also playing up at 16U for other top events such as Atlanta Legacy, Scenic City, PGF Top 50 Showcase and Impact Caymol Invitational, she has a .409 batting average on the season with a .475 on-base percentage, 18 RBIs, 24 runs scored and on defense has a .922 fielding percentage.

Despite her incoming sophomore status, Chloe has already had Power 4 coaches watch her play to keep tabs on her development.

Head Coach TC Wall explains:

“Chloe is someone I consider a ‘star’ player but never acts like it. She is the ultimate teammate and competitor, never complains, and will do anything you ask of her. Chloe can and does go toe-to-toe with anyone who steps on the field and does it with a smile on her face.”

“She is a D1 caliber player but the best thing about her is her attitude and willingness to do whatever the team needs her to do. I am beyond blessed to get to be Chloe’s coach!”

*** Ciara Babcock is a name we continue to hear thanks to her impressive plays as a 2027 outfielder/pitcher and slapper.

She was named a Line Drive 1st Team High School All-American – Outfielder recently and had another great week at Triple Crown Nationals where she batted .526 in seven games with a .591 on-base percentage, a 1.170 OPS and had four steals.

For the summer, Ciara is batting .461 with a .500 on-base percentage, a 1.039 OPS and has scored 67 runs in 60 games played with 71 hits, 25 RBIs, 11 walks and 22 steals.

*** Assisting our National Club Player of the Week McKenzie Leitgen for Top Gun, which beat Nebraska Gold 2011s 4-2 in the 18U championships game, was 2026 outfielder Mikayla Deville  who batted .652 with six RBIs and eight runs scored at TC Nationals.

Mikayla is committed to Jacksonville State.

*** The 16U championships at the TC Nationals was won by the Indiana Magic Gold – Moore/Carmichael team and leading their path to the title was a pair of hitting standouts.

— Harper Moore, a 2027 outfielder, batted .519 with 14 hits and nine RBIs to earn tourney MVP honors

— Kenna Streeval, a 2026 middle infielder who is committed to Eastern Kentucky, hit .522 with three home runs and had 13 RBIs.

All told, five players on the championship-winning team earned All-Tournament honors.

*** Braley Stewart, a 2029 right-handed pitcher, was named the MVP of the TC Nationals 14U championship as she got it done at the plate and in the circle to help Fury Platinum X – Higdon/Huckabay win it all.

She batted .647 with a pair of home runs and with her arm pitched 16 innings with a 0.88 ERA.

*** Also of note for the title-winning Fury Platinum X – Higdon/Huckabay team was offensive standout Carleigh Allen, a 2028 infielder/outfielder, who batted .562 with a .667 on-base percentage and had two home runs.
