12U: OC BATBUSTERS-STITH/BYRD 3, OC BATBUSTERS 2012-CAPEK 0

OC BATBUSTERS-STITH/BYRD 9, OC BATBUSTERS 2012-CAPEK 1

2030 RHP Taylor Goodwin, #4 in the 2030 Line Drive Hot 100, allowed just one run to record both victories as OC Batbusters-Stith/Byrd beat OC Batbusters 2012-Capek, 3-0 and 9-1, in the AFCS national championship series on Monday in Kokomo, IN.

It was the third consecutive Alliance national championship for OC Batbusters-Stith/Byrd, which reached the PGF 10U Premier national championship game in 2023.

“Going back-to-back and winning the Alliance national championship for the second time in two years is a phenomenal feeling,” Batbusters oach Jeff Byrd said. “Ending last season as the #1 team in the nation and starting this season in that same spot and being able to maintain this level of consistency for such a long period of time is extremely rewarding. We had a huge target on our backs all year and to end the season with a record of 109 wins and only 3 losses shows the dedication and work ethic of this team.

“This national championship feels twice as good as last year’s because we weren’t able to sneak up on anyone this season and we always got everyone’s best. We went undefeated and won nine games at Alliance this year and we won seven of those games by the mercy rule, including the championship game.”

Goodwin finished with an 8-0 record in AFCS and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.

2030 OF/RHP Makynna Byrd (.523 AVG, .600 OBP), 2030 C Jordan Phan (caught almost every game) and 2030 OF Kaydence Gordon (.586 AVG, .647 OBP, 13 SBs) made the All-Tournament Team.

OC Batbusters-Stith/Byrd defeated Impact Gold National 2012, 11-0, Aces National, 9-1, Indiana Magic Gold Futures 2012, 10-1, OC Batbusters 2012-Capek, 3-0 and , in bracket play.
