Event Recap: IDT Crowns 18U Boulder, 18U Louisville, 16U Longmont & 14U Broomfield Champs (July 6, 2025)

Independence Day Tournament was held July 2-6 in Boulder, CO (All rankings are Line Drive Hot 50 Club National Rankings):

18U BOULDER: OC BATBUSTERS-STITH 5, SELECT FASTPITCH-JONES 2

#2 OC Batbusters-Stith beat #32 Select Fastpitch-Jones, 5-2, in the 18U Boulder championship game on Sunday at Stazio Field.

It was the third consecutive IDT championship for OC Batbusters-Stith.

2027 C Riley Hilliard went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Oklahoma-bound CF Kai Minor went 3 for 3 with two runs and a home run and Stanford-committed 2026 LF Kale’a Tindal went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Batbusters in the final.

“We were actually on the road for three weeks (two weeks in Oklahoma and one in Colorado),” Minor said. “Winning showed a lot of progress to our team and is just a step closer to our goal in the end, which is winning nationals.”

Batbusters-Stith defeated Carolina Elite, 10-0, NJ Batbusters, 1-0, Virginia Glory National, 10-3, #10 Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier, 4-1, NJ Pride, 10-4, and Select Fastpitch-Jones, 5-2, in bracket games.

“Two weeks in Oklahoma, an Alliance Super Cup championship and a strong Boulder IDT showcased many great efforts for the Batbusters,” Batbusters coach Mike Stith said. “(Arkansas-bound MIF) Kyler Delduca, Kale’a Tindal and (BYU-committed 2026 C) Tessa Cowsill had strong performances during the long trip. (2027 3B/SS) Maya Matthies turned in an offensive MVP performance during the Super Cup win and Tindal turned in the tournament MVP performance.

Kai Minor’s senior leadership and consistent performance throughout the three-week grind (was exceptional).”

Select Fastpitch-Jones defeated Colorado Stars, 7-0, San Jose Sting, 15-2, #27 Cal Nuggets-Woods, 4-1, #30 Texas Blaze United-Robertson, 8-4, Nebraska Gold-Singleton, 9-5, and lost to OC Batbusters-Stith, 5-2, in bracket games.

18U LOUISVILLE: OHIO OUTLAWS-WOLFF/ACORD 8, COLORADO STARS-KAPELKE 3

Ohio Outlaws National-Wolff/Acord beat Colorado Stars-Kapelke, 8-3, in the 18U Louisville championship game on Sunday at Stazio Field.

It was the first IDT championship for the Ohio Outlaws.

Akron-bound MIF/OF Olivia Brown went 3 for 4 with a run, Kent State-bound C/OF/1B Caleigh Shaulis went 2 for 2 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs and 2026 SS Renee Brown went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Ohio Outlaws.

“We had 11 players, three being 14U and two pitchers — (Ohio-committed 2026 P) Kara Lint and (2028 LHP) Lila Manfredonia — were lights out,” Ohio Outlaws coach Adam Acord said. “Kara pitched the (semifinal) and the final. She is a machine. Offensively, 1-9 (in the lineup) went off! Things were just all going our way.

“It’s kind of surreal. (We’ve) been coming here a long time and we just finally had one of those weeks! Everyone was just on! It was emotional and exciting for the team and they just can’t wait to be back on the field.”

Ohio Outlaws-Wolff/Acord defeated SD Renegades, 7-0, So Cal Athletics-Tamai, 17-2, KC Rebels-Olsen, 11-0, Batbusters-Ching, 10-0, and Colorado Stars-Kapelke, 8-3, in bracket games.

Colorado Stars-Kapelke defeated Washington Angels, 6-2, Explosion, 6-0, KC Rebels-JS, 10-0, OC Batbusters-Delgado, 6-5, and lost to Ohio Outlaws National-Wolff/Acord, 8-3, in bracket games.

16U LONGMONT: NW BULLETS-DAWSON/MUIR 5, OHIO HAWKS NATIONAL-WOLFF/LEGGINS 4

#42 NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir pulled out a 5-4 win over Ohio Hawks National-Wolff/Leggins in the 16U Longmont championship game on Sunday at Stazio Field.

2027 UT Olivia Pompetti’s three-run homer in the top of the 5th inning gave NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir the lead and they held on for a 5-4 win over Ohio Hawks National-Wolff/Leggins, in the 16U Longmont championship game on Sunday at Stazio Field.

It was the first IDT championship in their first appearance in the finals.

2026 LF Devyn Wilson went 2 for 3 with a run and 2027 OF Cadence Ellenwood went 2 for 2 with an RBI for the Bullets in the final.

“This win means a lot because it reflects how much hard work these athletes have put in,” Bullets coach Mariah Dawson said. “We’ve been focusing on the little things — discipline, communication, trust — and to see it come together on a big stage like this is incredibly rewarding.”

Bullets-Dawson/Muir defeated So Cal Athletics, 6-3, OC Batbusters-Lara, 2-0, Birmingham Thunderbolts, 9-4, Minnesota Magic National, 8-5, Team NC-Bowman, 4-3, and Ohio Outlaws National-Wolff/Leggins, 5-4, in bracket games.

Ohio Outlaws National-Wolff/Leggins defeated #37 Corona Angels-Howard, 4-3, Virginia Glory National-Christiansen, 12-0, #8 Beverly Bandits-Meredith/Trackwell, 3-2, Texas Blaze United-Robertson, 5-1, and lost to NW Bullets-Dawson/Muir, 5-4, in bracket games.

14U BROOMFIELD: BSC BENGALS-R. BRIGGS 1, OC BATBUSTERS-STITH/AG 0

#8 BSC Bengals-R. Briggs picked up a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and held on for a 1-0 victory over #9 OC Batbusters-Stith/AG in the 14U Broomfield championship game on Sunday at Stazio Field.

2028 RHP Emily Yoon pitched a four-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts, 2028 RF Makenna Caffrey went 2 for 3 with two SBs and a run and 2028 SS Hazel Renteria went 2 for 3 to pace the Bengals in the final.

BSC Bengals-R. Briggs defeated Minnesota Sting National, 8-0, #21 Indiana Magic Gold-Langlois, 11-2, Athletics Mercado-Frausto, 11-0, #3 Beverly Bandits Premier-Chow/Hardin, 5-4, and OC Batbusters-Stith/AG, 1-0, in bracket games.

OC Batbusters-Stith/AG defeated Fury Premier, 14-7, #33 Cal Nuggets-Woods, 9-3, ai Bandits-Breer, 10-5, St. Louis Chaos, 10-2, and lost to BSC Bengals-R. Briggs, 1-0, in bracket games.
