College Rankings: Top Overall Seed Texas A&M End Regular Season No. 1 in NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll (May 13, 2025)

The following information was released Tuesday by the NFCA…

Texas A&M, the NCAA’s top overall seed heading into regionals, ends the regular season No. 1 in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.

The Aggies (45-9) shared the Southeastern Conference Tournament title with No. 2 Oklahoma after the championship game was canceled due to inclement weather.

The final poll will be announced on June 10, the Tuesday following the completion of the Women’s College World Series.

Texas A&M throttled South Carolina and Texas on its way to its first SEC title game. The second-ranked Sooners won a pair of close contests against LSU and Arkansas, the latter on a walk-off three run home run by Gabby Garcia, to advance to the title game in their first SEC season. OU is the NCAA’s No. 2 overall seed.

The Longhorns remained at No. 3, while the other SEC tournament semifinalist Arkansas jumped to No. 4. They are ranked sixth and fourth nationally heading into the weekend.

Atlantic Coast Conference regular season champions and tournament runner-up Florida State is No. 5. The Seminoles (46-9), who fell to new-No. 13 Clemson in the title game, is also the NCAA’s fifth seed, while the Tigers (44-12) grab the 11th seed after their first tournament championship.

No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 8 Florida all lost ground in the rankings. Big Ten tournament runner-up UCLA remained at No. 9 and 10th-ranked Texas Tech cracked the top 10 after wrapping up the Big 12 double with its run through the conference tourney.

The previously-mentioned programs are ranked 16th, seventh, third, ninth and 12th in the NCAA Tournament.

Other remaining ranked teams that earned a national seed are No. 11 LSU (10), No. 12 Arizona (13), No. 14 South Carolina (9), No. 20 Alabama (15) and No. 21 Duke (14).

The NCAA Division I softball tournament begins on Friday, May 16 at 16 regional sites. All 25 teams in the rankings, along with each program receiving votes are in the 64-team field.

No. 23 Grand Canyon was the only other ranked program to win its conference tournament (also regular-season champs) and heads into the tournament with Division I’s longest active winning streak at 23 games.

The 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches with one representing each of the NCAA’s Division I Conferences.

Polls will be released Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. throughout the regular season. Records reflect games played through May 11, 2025.
