Line Drive Softball’s National High School Player of the Week (April 22, 2025)

Cam Fisher is the Line Drive Softball National High School Player of the Week named on April 22, 2025.

Each Tuesday for the next several months Line Drive Softball is honoring top high school performances nationwide with a National Player of the Week and others who are named Runner-Up Players of the Week.

If you’d like to have a player considered, scroll down to see how to send in a nomination.

This week, a half dozen players could have been selected as the National Player of the Week including a pitcher who had TWO perfect games as well as a batter who hit a sizzling .737… but it’s hard to go against a state record setter…

Games are for Sunday, April 13, 2025, through Saturday, April 19, 2025

Line Drive Softball’s National High School Player of the Week (April 22, 2025)

*** Camryn Fisher, a senior pitcher at Ellington (Conn.) High, set a Connecticut state record with a remarkable 37 strikeouts in one game, a 14-inning performance that she won with a complete game two-hit 1-0 shutout victory over Hale Ray High.

Important to note that it was against opposing pitcher Lily Jahne, who herself had 33 K’s in the contest where the duo totaled 70 strikeouts.

That’s right: Lily would’ve set the state record if not for Cam’s record-setting performance! Amazingly, the 70 K’s is not even a national record: 20 years ago, on June 5, 2025, two pitchers for Central Cabarrus (North Carolina) High combined for 73 strikeouts in one game.

Cam Fisher had a lot to cheer about last week including setting a state record for strikeouts in a game.

For the week, Fisher, the Appalachian State-bound athlete, went 3-0 with no runs and just five hits given up in 24 innings pitched. In the three games, she had 63 strikeouts versus just one walk with a 0.00 ERA.

The 2025 grad, who also goes by “Cam,” has been a 1st Team All-State at pitcher three times and also was a 1st Team High School All-American.

In the Line Drive Softball HOT 100 for her class, Cam was ranked No. 35 overall and the No. 19 pitcher. On the club side, she plays for the Newtown Rock Gold – Garvey team and is a PGF All-American Game regional finalist.

This summer, she will compete at several top national club tournaments including the Boulder IDT, the Easton Invite and the PGF 18U Premier Nationals.

For the season, the senior has a 6-0 record with a 0.00 ERA and hasn’t allowed a run in 42 innings pitched. Cam has given up just six hits and a walk while striking out 114 – and average of 19 per game – and is allowing opposing hitters to bat just 0.41 against her.

So about that 14-inning, 37-inning game… how, we asked Cam, were you able to pitch so effectively and keep the intensity going?

“The game was something I had never experienced before,” she reflected. “I have gone into extra innings while playing but nothing like this. The intensity was high the whole game which really helped keep my adrenaline going after all those hours.”

What, we followed up asking Cam how she found out she had set the record…

“I didn’t even know I was close to breaking the record until my coach told me after the inning was over,” she remembered.

“I was so focused on the game I didn’t even register the fact that I set a record. After I took it all in–the win, the record, and calmed down–I was happy with myself and definitely want to continue to achieve more through out the season.”

Sharing the spotlight with her pitching teammate, Camryn concluded:

“I want to bring up Lily too, she broke the record as well (with 33 K’s in the game) and together we struck out 70 batters. That will definitely be a game I will always remember!”

Runner-Up Line Drive Softball National Players of the Week

*** Kylee Hodson is a sophomore pitcher/infielder at Bath County High in Owingsville, Ky. and played in four games, pitching in three of them.

Kylee Hodson

She won all three, but the jaw-dropping aspect is that in two of her games she pitched perfect games (on April 14 and 18).

In those games, she tossed 13 innings and gave up just seven hits and three earned runs overall with a 1.61 ERA and a BAA of .149.

In her two perfect games, Kylee also went 3-for-3 and 2-for-2 and in the second game had her 100th career hit.

In the one game she didn’t pitch the Class of 2027 standout played first base and was perfect in six chances with five assists and a put-out.

Kylee told Lind Drive Softball today:

“I know the most important part of pitching is the mental game and I try weekly to assess my performance from the week prior and think about what I felt good with and what needs adjusting,” she said.

“Going into last week I definitely felt confident in my teams hitting performance and knew what I needed to do to dominate in the circle. I’m most successful when I get ahead in counts and really trust in my spins. I love to split the zone with my dropball that falls off the table and a rise ball that gets lots of swing and misses plus mixing in my change-up with a 15-mph speed differential and an effective drop curve.

So, we asked Kylee, was she aware of the two perfect games as they developed?

“I think it’s always in the back of a pitcher’s mind when they’ve got a perfect game going, at least for me but I don’t let that affect me. I just have the mindset of I’m better than any hitter that steps in the box and let my hard work I’ve put in prove that.”

“I tend to talk to myself while pitching and take control of the pace of the game, having a moment of reset in between pitches where I look past the center field wall, this helps me remain calm even in those high-pressure situations. I thrive under pressure especially after having a year of experience and throwing close games to take my team to the quarterfinals of regions last year.”

For the season, Kylee has tossed 74.1 innings over 18 games with a 2.01 ERA and 91 strikeouts. Also, out of 320 batters face in 2025, the pitcher has walked only 16.

She’s helped her own cause by hitting .407 in 59 at-bats with 19 RBIs.

Kylee’s older sister, Taylor Hodson, is a starting Freshman playing softball at the University of Charleston and the younger sibling lives in Kentucky and plays club ball for the Ohio Hawks National – King/Joseforsky team out of Cincinnati (a two-hour drive).

Her father tells Line Drive Softball:

“Kylee has been on the softball fields since she was two years old and has been playing since age five, always following her big sister.”

Last year she pitched for the Hawks in the PGF qualifier and helped her team win a bid to play in Southern California.

Currently, she carries a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend law school after getting a four-year degree. Kylee even takes a class where she is one of the attorneys on her high school mock trial team!

Keelyn “MonKee” Constancio

*** Keelyn “MonKee” Constancio is a true lefty triple threat for the Lady Arrows of Clinton (Miss.) High and in two games last week the sophomore hit .667 with six hits in nine at-bats. She also reached on an error.

At the end of the regular season, “MonKee” has a .481 batting average and an OPS of 1.023. In district play alone, the 2027 grad hit .562. Overall, she had 50 hits and 22 RBIs with 35 runs and seven steals.

The explosive left-handed centerfielder has great speed and has been playing varsity since the 7th grade. For her career, she has had 150 hits with 124 runs and 64 RBIs in 114 games.

Peytin had eight doubles and drove in 11 runs while scoring 10 runs and also reached base via five walks and once by HBP.

At the plate offensively this year, she has hit .640 with a .697 on-base percentage and an OPS of 1.937 in eight games. Peytin has also stolen nine bases and not struck out once.

Nominated as a 2025 PGF All-American regional finalist, her performances this year are even more impressive when you learn she missed travel ball last summer with a wrist injury.

This year, fully healthy, she’ll play for Team NC led by Keviin Hinde after finishing her strong junior prep season

Off the field, Avery has a 4.19 GPA and is a member of the National Honors Society.

*** Haley Lyons, a freshman outfielder and catcher for Northside (Newport, Ala.) High, went a perfect 8-for-8 at the plate with three home runs and 12 RBIs last week.

For the season, Dawson—an Oklahoma State commit—is hitting .520 with a .647 on-base percentage and has stolen 22 bases in 18 games played. She has three home runs, three triples and five doubles among her 26 hits.

Interestingly, Dawson is a Tik Tok creator and has over 54,000 followers and 7.9 million likes. She’s on the 2025 PGF All-American Watch list and also made Scotland High history as one of three female wrestlers to qualify for North Carolina state regionals.

A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, she will attend the IMG Academy for her senior year and carries a 4.0 GPA.

Behind the plate, no opposing base runner tried to test her arm, and she is dominating defensively, not having given up one steal this season and also not allowing a passed ball.

The athletic 2025 grad also played ice hockey and when not playing sports can usually be found giving catching and hitting lessons.

Callee Leffler
Callee Leffler
