*****
Today was a big game against Mexico and our team came out strong. I started the day with some much-needed rest, breakfast and a little homework before getting focused for the matchup.
We had to wait for teams to play this morning to see who we would face in our game.
As we boarded the bus to head to the field, we found out we were set to play Mexico. We knew it would be an electric environment and we were ready. Nothing was going to distract us from our game plan to win!
My teammate, Maci Barnes, set the tone in the circle, throwing 4.2 innings with eight strikeouts and allowing only three hits. I came in relief in the top of the 5th with two outs, looking to close things down. I pitched 1.2 innings, recording one strikeout and allowing no hits, keeping our defense locked in.
Offensively, our team stayed hot, batting .440 as a group with six RBIs and 11 hits. Allison Eichholz continued her hot streak, crushing her third home run in a row. The atmosphere was electric with intense fans from both the USA and Mexico, making every play feel even bigger and exciting!
In the end, we secured a dominant 7-0 victory. During our after-game huddle, Maci and I received half of the lineup card, a tradition for the game MVP. This is a memory I will never forget. We then walked to load the team bus with our parents lined up cheering us on. We then headed back to the hotel, had dinner and stretched. I then took a shower and relaxed before heading to bed. Time for bed to prepare for our next game against Puerto Rico tomorrow at 1:30 Central Time.
Let’s GO TEAM USA!
