Last year, we introduced you to blogger, Rose Wendel, who is a Class of 2027 corner infielder and pitcher currently competing for the Keystone State Bombers 18U team from Manheim, Pa.

Rose is an outstanding power hitter who smacked her first over-the-fence homer—on a high school field, nevertheless—at the tender age of 10 and has been one to watch ever since.

The current sophomore attends Hempfield High in Salunga-Landisville, Pa. and really turned heads last summer when she hit .588 for her 18U club squad.

The California native with the Bombers as well the San Diego-based Athletics – Mercado National Showcase 16U team. She will be at Sparklers or IDT, in Ohio for the Outlaws Showcase, at East Coast Showcase in NJ and the TNT showcase in Pennsylvania to name a few.

Rose has continued to impress this winter as she’s attended camps and shined in front of college coaches: here’s a recap of how one of those events turned out very satisfactorily!

Earlier this month, Rose attended a January 4^th New Year’s Exposure Camp with over 70 players working out and college coaches from D1 schools like Florida State, Penn State, Drexel, Bucknell and UMass to observe the action.

Showing that she’s recognized as a leader, heading into the event the sophomore was asked by a Drexel coach to lead the camp warm-ups for all the players attending.

Rose made it through four rounds to find herself in the final four of the showcase-ending hitting contest. Making it even more nerve-wracking: all 70-plus players and the college coaches gathered around to watch!

“I got in the mindset that it was just me and the ball and not 80-plus people watching,” the athlete explains.

“I wanted to win and to stand out! I told myself ‘I got this!’ and I remembered my hitting coach saying, ‘It’s just like any other pitch, don’t let the nerves get you, but use the excitement as fuel.’”

The right-handed power hitter adds:

 “You have to be excited, but you have to control your nerves, too.”

The three other participants grounded out before Rose hit a bomb to win.

“Everyone cheered,” she fondly recalls. “It was fun!”

Subsequently a couple of the college coaches in attendance started following her on X, validating her performance for the 2027 grad.

“Everyone wants to be recruited by a school that truly values and see them and believes in them, so I feel so honored when a coach sees me and follows me!”

“I thank God for every opportunity. I practice everyday! I love the game! And I love to win too!”
