International Events: U-18 Women’s National Team Posts 15-0 Shutout over Mexico to Remain Undefeated at the 2024 WBSC U-18 World Cup Group C Stage Event (Sept. 1, 2024)
The WBSC U-18 World Cup action in Group C continued on Saturday as Team USA defeated its neighbor to the South, Mexico, with a 15-0 run-rule victory over Mexico highlighted by home runs off the bats of five U.S. batters: Paislie Allen, McLaine Hudson, Ella McDowell, Brooke Wells and Payton Westra.
The following release was issued by USA Softball to recap the highlights of the fourth win to put the Americans atop the standings.

Here are highlights of the USA win over Mexico:
Retiring all nine batters they faced in order; the U.S. pitching staff of Saylor Timmerman and Addisen Fisher tossed a combined no-hitter while fanning six batters through three innings of play.
Scoring early and often, the Eagles scored eight runs in the bottom of the first before tacking on six more in the bottom of the second and one final run in the bottom of the third to seal the 15-0 run-rule.
Highlighting the U.S. offense with perfect 2-for-2 performances at the plate were McLaine Hudson, Brooke Wells and Payton Westra.
At the same time, Townsen Thomas (2-for-3) and Ella McDowell (2-for-3) also posted multi-hit performances – in addition to five home runs from the U.S. bats.

A true team win, nine U.S. batters recorded at least one hit on the day while combining for a .667 batting average.
Team USA returns to action with a matchup against the Philippines on Sunday (Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. CT) to close out the opening round.
The playoff round is slated for Monday, Sept. 2.
