Club Team Spotlight: Fury Premier 2027 – Robinson… Playing Elite Events to Get Maximum Exposure (July 14, 2024)

Pat Moyer began the Fury Premier organization in 2006 to provide players the chance to compete in top tournaments across the country.

What makes the Fury Premier program unique is that it has a reputation for being a strong club team that is faith based, which is why Head Coach Leslie Robinson decided to join the organization when her club team was 11U and now competes at top national events at the 14U level.

This summer, the team has placed in the Top 16 at the Atlanta Legacy and looked strong at Scenic City before being ousted by the eventual tourney champs.

Fury Support

“After talking with several travel ball coaches about the different organizations, I felt like Fury Premier was the right fit for our team and myself,” she says today. “Since joining the Fury, I have been very happy with the support, encouragement, and hands-on involvement that Pat Moyer, the organizational head, and Keith Perry, the executive director, provide for our team and overall organization.”

Coach Robinson brought her skills and knowledge to the team from growing up at Club K, a softball clinic founded and run by softball legend Cheri Kempf, a former Team USA member who is today the Vice President of Athletes Unlimited.

In her own career, she played college softball at LSU and UT-Chattanooga gaining more skills from head coaches Yevette Girouard and Frank Reed. While playing at LSU, her team won two SEC championships and competed in the Women’s College World Series. At UT-Chattanooga, her team won the SoCon Conference and went to regionals both years.

The current Fury club coach has also worked with notable figures in the sport including Doreen Denmon, Jennifer McFalls, Gaye Lynn Wilson, Mickey Smith and travel ball coaches Steve Dickerson and Frankie Matthews.

Assisting Coaches

Robinson is quick to say her team wouldn’t be where they are today without the help of her assistant coach, Randy Blessing.

“The girls call him ‘Pops’ and when Pops talks, they listen,” she explains. “Randy helps provide encouragement, wisdom, and helpful insight about life and the game of softball.”

Another addition to the Fury Premier 2027 coaching staff is that of Emma Broadfoot, who joined the team this season after finishing her collegiate career at the University of Alabama where she competed in the 2024 Women’s College World Series.

“Emma’s young, energetic, great with the girls, and has been an excellent addition to our staff!” her head coach continues.

Fury 18U coaches Heather Groenewoud and Allison Pedigo also have assisted Fury Premier 2027 this season. Heather played at Ole Miss and Allison at College of Charleston.

“We’re excited to have both coaches help our staff,” Coach Robinson adds. “They will assist heavily in the recruiting process.”

Player Backgrounds

The players on Fury Premier 2027 Robinson are from Tennessee primarily, but also hail from Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.

Robinson states that, as most of her players are rising sophomores, her goal is to compete in the most prestigious tournaments and against the best teams in the nation so her players can receive a high level of exposure.

“We strive to provide an environment where our players will learn the necessary skills to be successful as future collegiate student-athletes,” she explains.

Fury Premier 2027 Robinson’s summer schedule proves that to be true, as the team has competed at top national events including PGF Show Me the Money, the Scenic City Super Pool, Boulder IDT and the Atlanta Legacy this week. The team will finish off the summer season at the upcoming PGF Nationals in Southern California.
