The East Cobb Bullets travel ball organization leadership announced today that Beth Mullins—who was the Head Softball Coach at Troy University from 2014 to 2022 and for three years prior was an Assistant Softball Coach at Mississippi State—will be joining the Bullets program as the Head of Player Development.
“We are so excited to have Beth join our family,” said JD Heath, one of the new owners of the Bullets organization. “Her accomplishments as a collegiate coach, her understanding of data analytics and her passion for player development aligns with our philosophy.”
Longtime EC Bullets coach and org leader Andrew Biele says he loves what the prominent softball figure brings to the Georgia-based fastpitch program on and off the field.
“Beth is a great person and an even better coach,” he states. “I’m really excited to work with her.”
In Mullins’ perspective, the new role is a great way to magnify her strengths as a leader in the sport.
“East Cobb is one of the premier clubs in the nation,” she explains. “I’ve known Andrew, JD and Greg (Bullets founder Greg Schnute) a long time.”
“When Andrew approached me, I felt it was a great opportunity to do what I love most which is help develop young athletes. When he shared his vision on the program it really aligns with my beliefs. I can’t wait to get started!”
Mullins is the second-winningest softball coach in Troy University program history with 208 wins. In 2021, she led the Trojans back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 25 years.
In 2015, Mullins became the first coach in school history to defeat Top 10 teams in back-to-back games, recorded victories over three Top 25 opponents and received Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors.
Mullins’ teams advanced to five NCAA Tournaments throughout her coaching career, including all three seasons at Mississippi State.
Prior to her arrival in Starkville, Mullins spent one season at Western Kentucky where the Lady Toppers post the highest batting average in school history. The Lady Toppers also set single-season records for triples, RBIs and slugging percentage.
Mullins also spent two-year stop as an assistant coach at Georgia Southern. During that stint, she helped the Eagles to a Southern Conference Tournament title and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Last Summer, in June of 2023, she became a Softball Product Owner with 6-4-3 Charts to help coaches and scouts in the sport how to leverage data to improve team scouting and on-field performance.
