This is Brentt Eads of Line Drive Media…

Last month (Monday, Sept. 14th to be exact), I had the great opportunity to meet up with Texas Glory travel organization founder Kevin Shelton at his impressive facility in McKinney, Texas.

Coach Kevin last November at the 2025 Clearwater Invitational travel ball tournament.

I was able to tour his headquarters and workout complex called “The Halo” and will have a detailed report with photos and videos of that visit very soon.

First, I wanted to share a video interview I recorded with Coach Kevin which provides a glimpse of his incredible career—both before his softball journey started about three decades ago and since then.

As he details in the video clip below, the Texas native has a nuclear engineering background and later was in the navy as a submarine officer for over eight years!

Next, he got a Master’s Degree in Information Systems, went to work for Proctor & Gamble and eventually started a family of six with his wife Lynette which included softball-playing daughters Kristyn (Stephen F. Austin) and Kathy (Baylor) who were his entry point into softball.

Initially, having to ask what “select” softball was, Kevin took his first daughter to a tryout (she made the team), became an assistant coach and started in 2000 what would become the Texas Glory program we know today that has 100 teams in 15 states.

Kevin’s softball career also includes his being a General Manager of a pro softball team, the Dallas Charge of the National Pro Fastpitch league, in 2015 and 2016

In his remarkably accomplished fastpitch journey, the long-time 18U coach has also produced hundreds—if not thousands—of players who would go on to play at the collegiate level… and several of those standouts have gone on to play pro softball, including:

  • Jayda Coleman, who won multiple national championships with the Oklahoma Sooners
  • Rylie Boone (Univ. of Oklahoma)
  • Shannon Rhodes (Oregon & Texas)
  • Leighann Goode (Texas)

…. just to name a few!
