Grace Tonga, the outstanding 2028 outfielder for the Top Gun 16U National team coached by Joe Sciara, announced today that she has committed to the Univ. of Oklahoma.

The athlete tripped to the SEC school over the weekend and looks to have committed on her official campus visit.

Ranked No. 14 overall in the Line Drive Media HOT 100, the lefty junior lives just an hour and a half drive from the OU campus in Norman, Okla.

For Stillwater High, playing its softball season right now (one of five states that play high school softball in the fall), her team is 7-4 overall and Grace not only plays the outfield, she also pitches and plays first base for the Pioneers.

In the last week of August this season, Grace went on a hitting tear, batting .435 with sour home runs including a grand slam with 20 RBIs and a 1.130 slugging percentage.

An excellent all-around athlete, she also does the high jump for her high school.

In addition to Oklahoma, Grace took campus visits to Arizona and BYU.

Bob Turner, the Director of the Top Gun National program, said this about the latest in the organization to finalize her college choice.

“Grace Tonga is one of the more polished outfielders in the Class of 2028, and—at 5-foot-10—she is long and rangy, while also possessing very good speed.”  

“She’s a smooth swinging left-handed hitter, has plus power to all fields and is a very disciplined offensive player.  We couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity that Coach Gasso and her great staff have provided Grace!”

Grace is a talented left-handed hitting outfielder out of Stillwater, Oka., and her ability to hit for power to all fields is helping to draw college coaches across the country to her games. She’s 5-foot-11 and impressively athletic, with the numbers to match as she hit .377 with five home runs and eight doubles this summer for Top Gun 16 National – JS.  At Stillwater High, she was selected as a 1st Team NFCA All-Region selection and 1st Team All District and All-Conference as a freshman last fall and has had an explosive start to the 2026 season by leading her Lady Pioneers to an undefeated start (6-0 as of today) and has batted .435 with a 1.130 slugging percentage thanks to four home runs including a grand slam and 20 RBIs. She joins an impressive list of 2028 commits this month for Top Gun; on Sunday pitcher Lauren Schellhamer (ranked No. 4 overall in the HOT 100) committed to Texas and, previously, infielder Abrianna Carlton (ranked No. 5) committed to Duke; infielder pitcher Addison Ellis (ranked No. 8) committed to Clemson and MIF/OF Reesee Randall (ranked No. 42) committed to Purdue.
